Perry House (1921)

Perry House
573 E. Main Street

This two story residence was built in 1921 by C. M. Perry (about whom little is known). A horizontal emphasis, low-pitched roof with wide projecting eaves, large chimney and rectangular massing are all characteristics of the Prairie style. Stucco walls and tiled roofs, as exhibited here, are also common in buildings of this architectural style. The half-timber details on the second floor were added in a later remodel.

This house is significant as an example of the Prairie School of architecture and also for its elaborate details and art glass windows. Additionally, this was the home of the MacKenzie family (founders of MacKenzie Ford) from 1928 to 1951.
