In addition to a career as a school teacher, Enos Lincoln McCormick served as Washington County Recorder from 1894 to 1898 and also operated a sporting goods and furniture store for several years. The sporting goods and furniture store was ultimately sold to George Patterson and, in 1906, McCormick opened a jewelry store and music shop. During this period, several local brass bands were formed and McCormick provided them with sheet music and instruments.
This one story residence, which was built around 1910, exhibits a bell-cast hipped roof characteristic of the Foursquare Bungalow style. It also boasts fine features such as the large bay window with colored glass and subtle details like a wide frieze, deep eaves and corner boards with pilaster capitals. A Doric column supports the roof above the porch.
This residence may have been built by George Taggart, who lived in the house next door.
