When I thought to do an interview with Jamie Thomas; I thought it would be great to include all the kids in it so I put up a post saying e-mail me questions to ask Jamie so that people could feel a part of the interview. I never anticipated the repeated "When will you try the Leap of Faith again?" question. It must have been like 20 emails a day of that one question alone. Well I sorted through the rest and picked out the best. I give you now the Jamie Thomas interview brought to you in part by the groms of Thrashermagazine.com:

What was it like growing up in Dothan, Alabama? It was cool because we had a group of friends that skated and we just made the best of it. It wasn't very good for skating, but it made me grateful.

Since you were from Dothan AL, land of water world and hunts oyster bar, what did you skate around here besides the police station and the infamous (to Dothan kids) Montgomery Ward ledges. Not much, we would make our own stuff or find gaps. We used to go to Ft. Rucker which is a near by military base. That's where I started skating rails.

Are you ever going to try the leap of faith again?(I had to include one-webLORD) It's not something I think about very often, I'm just trying to finish my video part for "Dying to Live". If I were done with everything I want to get, then I would probably think about it more often.

How many tattoos do you have... They start to blend together after a while so I don't know anymore.

...and who did all your tattoos? A few different people. A guy in SF named Jeff Whitehead did some of my first ones and most of the other ones were done by two guys at Avalon tattoo in SD named Fip and Randy Jansen.

Why is Satan so bad? Because he's the ultimate enemy of our loving God.

What's the Gnarliest trick u have ever done? I don't know what other people would call the gnarliest. To me that would be the trick that was the scariest for me to try. I have a few that were a lot scarier than others. The Leap, 50-50 from my Thrasher interview a few years ago and the backside 5-0 down 20 in "Welcome to Hell". Those come to mind...

When is Dying To Live going to be released? We're still filming for it so we have set a date in stone yet. Whenever we think it's ready it'll come out.

Do you feel the pressure of putting your video out at the same time as the Flip video? We're not putting them out at the same time. I know that our video is going to be as good as we can make it. On top of that what can you do? Flip's Flip and Zero is Zero.

Who are some of the bands you listen to now on a regular basis and what bands influence you and make you want to skate? Loads of stuff, Tom petty, Rush, U2, the Who, whatever sounds good.

Who has Better F/S flips Penny or Turtle Boy? I like them both but Penny has the most graceful flip ever.

Corey Duffel is very controversial in skateboarding right now, what do you think of this kid? I think he's a rad kid that is learning the hard way to think before he talks. At the same time he's getting a crash course in what it means to be politically correct.

Do you think your skating has reached the limit now and can only become more technical, or do you have more bigger gaps and rails in mind? I don't think about it that much I'm just doin what feels good right now.

What's the worse you've gotten hurt? And how long did it keep you out? I've had two knee surgeries. The first one kept me out for two months before surgery and six months after. And the second one kept me out for almost a year.

Will the Leap of Faith be conquered? I don't know the answer to that question.

What happened with Trainwreck? He was hanging out with the Piss Drunx and he felt he

fit better with riding for them.

Are you still friends with Erik Ellington and Trainwreck? I don't talk to wreck too often, and yeah everything's still cool with Mule.

What are your thoughts on Greco? I miss the old Greco, but I don't even know what he's up to these days.

What is your best vert trick? Maybe an ollie off the deck.

How do you choose on what photographer to go out with when shooting an ad? I usually just go out with the same people. Atiba or Skin, when I shoot for Thrasher I shoot with Burnett or Morford.

Does Zero's image come in conflict with some of your beliefs as a Christian? No, it flows nicely.

After producing your part for Misled Youth which I believe is one of the all time greatest parts ever, has/was it hard to film for Dying To Live? There just has to be a great enough time span between parts to get some different stuff going. I just do what I can and my focus progresses as I film.

On average, how many tickets would you say you receive every year due to skateboarding? Do you pay these tickets out of your own pocket? I probably only get on average one, and I pay for them myself.

If you were only allowed to skate with one person at one spot for a year straight who would you skate with and where? Growing up where I did, I already did that. A grocery store parking lot with my homie.

Who was your inspiration for skating when you were a kid? My friends and then later the early street pros. Natas, Gonz, Guerrero, and Vallely.

Did you really try and sue Baker and if so why? No! They tried to put a sponsor me video of me when I was a kid in one of their videos. I called them and notified them that they had no legal right to put me in their video, and asked for them to take it out. I had an attorney give me legal advice and I told them I had been given legal advice and they took it out. That was it, then rumors started.

Do you catch more grief from skateboarders for being Christian or from Christians for being a skateboarder? It's probably equal. People constanly try and call out my motives for doing the things I do.

What advice would you give on making better videos? First to take the time to recognize what makes a video good. And then to go and just start making videos. Every video that you make will be better than the previous one.

What would a dream session be for you(with who and where)? My street with all the people that I started skating with.

Favorite car? 69' Z 28

Tail or rail? Tail and Front rail

What do you think about Jake Phelps? He says what's on his mind, which is respectable, but harsh to hear. I don't know a whole lot else about him.

What does the future hold, do you have any longterm goals? Make videos, work on companies with the homies, love my wife and spread the word of God to the best of my abilities.
