Be Prepared For a New Adventure
It is now the start of a New Year. Are you ready for it? Quickly recall that only a year ago, the entire world seemed to be on Red Alert for the coming of Y2K! I admit, even my family took precautions by having a week’s worth of bottled water and canned food. It was like having an earthquake scare, not knowing when it was coming, but certainly being prepared for one.
As I get ready to leave in June for Guatemala, I realize how little I really know about what lies ahead. I don’t have a play-by-play script, just the general ideas. I leave in June and will serve for two months with the Summer Team Evangelist Program. I will then return to the States to help recruit for 3-4 months for the STEP team as well as other OC International opportunities. I will then return in January 2002 to serve the team in Guatemala. There I will coordinate and again participate in the STEP team through August 2002.
But many of you ask, “How is the process coming? What are you doing until June?”
As time seems to be running out, my goals are as follows:
- Raise at least 200 people to receive my monthly prayer letter
- Raise at least 20 people to faithfully pray for me every week
- Pray and stay in God’s Word at least for 15 minutes a day
- Stay on task with OCI by turning in letters every month, finish my required
reading, turn in my progress reports
- Keep in contact with financial and prayer supporters
- Pray, pray and keep praying
I’m just juggling daily life with my “planning” life right now. I don’t have a script, but I do
recognize God daily preparing my heart. Since my acceptance with OCI, I have been faced with:
- Finding work just after moving into a new apartment
- Living on just enough to get me by
- Being in situations and around people less fortunate than myself.
- Putting aside my pride to accept the help of someone willing to lend it.
I’ve been blessed with a roommate who loves the Lord and believes He is the provider in any circumstance. Miraculously, I have just found a job that will last until I leave, and will pay more than I have ever made in ANY job. I continue to be blessed by the girls that I mentor at church. I even had the blessing of giving my testimony to the church’s Senior High group (only a few hundred teens). =)
Again, may I stress how excited I am to have you come along on my adventure! Please do not hesitate to contact me through email: hermana-luna@juno.com I desire to know if you will pray for me, or financially support me or even desire to be taken off the mailing list. I want to remind you that if God does not lay it on your heart, then do not feel guilty. God has called me to go, and He will call the ones to be my team of support.
I desire to know how all of you are doing! May God continue to bless you and prepare your hearts for the coming year!
Always,
