In the first inning, Josh Williams staked the Tanks to an early lead after hitting a solo homerun with two outs. In the bottom half of the inning, the 301's were unable to respond.
In the second inning, the Tanks went down quietly, unable to build on their one run lead. In the bottom of the frame, Casey Zimmerman chased a pitch way out of the strike zone and deposited it beyond the center field fence for a game-tying homerun. The next batter, Jamison McAndie, followed with another homerun to give the 301's their first lead. The next two batters, Joe Kotsovos and Eric Paslack, reached base, but Williams was able to pitch out of the jam, striking out Lock and getting Zimmerman to fly out.
With a lead in hand, Kotsovos held the Tanks scoreless for the next two innings. He also added two-run homeruns in both the third and fourth innings off pitcher Scott Williams, who relieved Josh Williams in the third inning. Both homeruns were preceded by walks to McAndie and increased the lead to five heading into the last inning.
On the verge of holding the Tanks to just one run, things started to unravel in the fifth. Scott Williams led off the inning with a solo homerun. After two of the next three hitters reached base, Williams added his second homer of the inning to cut the deficit to just one. After that, however, the rally came to a end as Roe and Miller were retired for the final outs.
