Sam was walking along the boardwalk looking for something to do. He was trying to take his mind off Timandra. He, Edgar, Alan and Finn went over to "Neptune's Kingdom" and played some games. But Sam was still thinking about Timandra. She had been gone a coupl of weeks now. So Sam left his friends there and went out to the beach. Finn noticed Sam leave and went after him.
Finn caught up to Sam and asked, "Where are you going?"
Sam replied, "I don't know."
"How do you think things are going to be when Timandra returns?"
"Well I think we...I don't know. We both feel...I don't know. Everything is just so complicated now. She lied to me Finn. How am I supposed to forgive her? Some times I just feel the impulse to just forget about her and move on."
"I know what you mean. I know I've had impulses I'd like to act on but I can't. Sam if you really care about Timandra I know you will find a way to forgive her."
"I guess you're right. For now I don't want to think about it."
"Well hey what do you say we go to a movie tonight?"
"Sure sounds good."
"Then it's a date. Well look I'm gonna go back in. I was in the middle of a killer game of 'Street Fighter' with this kid. No way am I gonna let some 12 year old punk beat me. See ya' Sam."
Sam waved bye to Finn. He continued to walk along the beach. He passed the stage. There was a teenage boy there and he was playing his guitar. Sam climbed up on the stage and listened to the boy play.
"That sounds real good. My name's Sam."
"I'm Ash," the boy replied.
"So have you been playing long?"
"Yeah. Self taught baby!"
"Really? Pretty impressive."
"Hey, I usually play at this cool club. Why don't you come check it out? I'm on my way there."
"Sure. That sounds cool."
Sam followed Ash to the club. It was dark inside only lit by strobe lights flashing. Sam looked around at all the people dancing. Ash introduced Sam to Lyrik. She had blue eyes and her hair dies orange. Sam was very interested in Lyrik. Ash and Lyrik then went up on stage to perform. Ash performed a rendition of Gerard McMann's "Cry Little Sister" on his guitar as Lyrik sang.
Lyrik sang, "Last fire will rise, behind those eyes. Black house will rock blind boys don't lie. Immortal fear, that voice so clear. Through broken walls that scream I hear. Cry little sister, come to your brother, unchain me sister, love is with your brother, thou shall not kill."
After hearing Lyrik sing Sam couldn't stop thinking about her. Ash and Lyrik invited Sam to go out to the woods. Sam didn't even ask why they were going. He just agreed so he could be with Lyrik. When they got deep into the woods they got out of Ash's car and Ash instructed Sam to follow him into a restricted area. Sam didn't want to go at first but when he saw Lyrik follow Ash he decided to go as well. But by the time he had made up his mind to follow he couldn't find Ash and Lyrik. It was like they had just disappeared. Sam saw a pair of headlights coming toward him in the dark. He didn't know what to do. He called out for Ash and Lyrik but there was no answer. The officer stepped out of his car and walked up to Sam with his flash light shining on Sam's face.
"What are you doing out here young man?"
"I-I don't know."
"Don't play dumb with me boy. This is a restricted area. Are you here alone?"
Sam looked around for Ash and Lyrik. "Um, yeah I am."
"Look you better come with me." The officer heard the radio in the car calling him. "You wait here boy. I need to answer that. The man went over to the car to pick up the radio but just then there was a loud howling wind. Sam couldn't see anything in all the dust that was raised in the air by the strong gusts of wind. The headlights of the car went out and Sam lost track of everything that was going on in the dark. Finally the wind stopped and the headlights turned on again. Sam saw that he was now standing by the police car and over the dead body of the officer. Just then the strong wind started up again.
The next morning Sam woke up groggy from the late night he had. All he could remember from the night before was Lyrik and how beautiful she was. He knew he had to see her again. Mike came into Sam's room.
"Hey Sammy what happened to you last night? You came home late and in like some sort of a daze."
"Nothing okay bro," Sam said defensively.
"Sorry I was just concerned. Finn called and said you guys were supposed to go to a movie together. Were you with Edgar and Alan?"
"No. I was with some friends."
"Do I know them?"
"What are you a cop? Look their names are Ash and Lyrik if you must know."
Lucy walked in, "Sam please don't tell me you were out all night slaying vampires. You are wearing your good shirt. How many times have I told you no vampire slaying in your good shirt? That was a gift from your grandmother young man."
"Mom will you lay off. I wasn't slaying vampires. I was out with some friends."
"Who this Ash and Lyrik I heard you talking about. Who are they Sam?"
"Look mom I have to go. I'm meeting Edgar and Alan on the boardwalk today."
Sam left his mother and brother standing alone. Mike began to wonder what was wrong with his brother. He remembered how he was acting weird when David had turned him into a half vampire. Mike wondered if Sam might be in the same situation.
Sam met Edgar, Alan, and Serafine at the comic store. He told them about the club. He promised them they would have a good time. Sam's ulterior motive was just to get to see Lyrik again. So that night the four teens went to the club that Sam had raved about. They were a little skeptical since Sam hadn't been in such a great mood since Timandra left. They weren't sure what his idea of "fun" was. But when they got there all doubt was lost. They loved it. Sam looked for Lyrik. He felt that he needed to see her or, he didn't know what he would do. He saw her and Ash kissing by the stage. Sam got jealous. He knew he still loved Timandra but he couldn't help but be attracted to Lyrik. Lyrik noticed Sam and walked over to him past the crowd of dancing teens.
"Sorry we lost you last night. I hope I can make it up to you. Do you want to dance?"
"I don't think we should."
"Why? What are you afraid of?"
"Well aren't you and Ash?"
"Oh, you saw us kissing. Look Ash and I have this sort of open relationship. It's not like a commitment. He sees who he wants and I see who I want."
"Well in that case, let's get on that dance floor."
Edgar and Serafine looked at each other as Sam and Lyrik went out to dance.
"Well looks like Sam was able to get someone to dance with him. You're not doing so well Edgar."
"Hey I can get a girl to dance with me. Besides you don't seem to have any guys asking you to dance."
"Well you're right. Actually I'm a little jealous since there was that one guy that asked you."
"Ha ha, very funny Harper."
Alan butted in, "Look why don't you guys just dance together?"
Serafine replied, "Me dance with him? That's a good one Alan."
Edgar said, "Yeah like she could keep up with me."
"What? You think I can't dance good enough to keep up with you?"
"Come on Harper, really."
"Fine then let's go for it. I'll show you how good I can dance."
Edgar and Serafine went out on the dance floor and danced. Each trying to do better than the other. Ash caught sight of Serafine and he liked what he saw. He watched as she danced with Edgar. After the song Sam and Lyrik talked. Sam told her about her about Timandra, although he left out the part about her being a werewolf. Lyrik seemed to understand Sam's pain. She held him close and began to kiss him. Sam couldn't stop his feelings for Lyrik. Ever since he first heard her sing he couldn't stop thinking about her.
Ash went up to Edgar and Serafine after they finished dancing. Ash asked Serafine if she'd like him to show her around. Serafine thought it was a good idea. Edgar thought the guy looked suspicious. Ash took Serafine backstage. After some small talk Ash began to kiss Serafine. Serafine was a little surprised but she didn't mind it. She thought Ash was pretty hot so she didn't argue with his advances. Ash offered her a drink. Serafine drank it. She grimaced at the taste of the red liquid. Ash then grabbed Serafine's neck and exposed his mouth full of fangs. Serafine realized now what was going on. She screamed. Edgar and Alan who were not far behind ran over to where Ash was holding Serafine. They saw that Ash was a vampire and Edgar quickly pulled Serafine away from him.
Ash: "You're too late. I've already given her a drink of Treat's blood. She won't be able to resist her thirst for blood for long."
Edgar: "Harper are you okay?"
Serafine: "Yeah I just feel a little different."
Alan: "She's already starting to have vampire feelings. We have to kill her."
Edgar: "Not so fast Alan. We gotta find Sam. He'll know what to do."
Ash: "Oh I think you'll find your friend Sam a little preoccupied."
Edgar, Alan, and Serafine found Sam with Lyrik.
Edgar: "Sam come on Serafine needs your help."
Sam: "I can't right now. I have to be here with Lyrik."
Lyrik: "You guys should just go."
Edgar: "Sam what's wrong with you? Ash is a vampire and for all we know she is too."
Sam: "She's not a vampire."
Lyrik: "He's right I'm not. I'm a Siren."
Alan: "A Siren? Aren't you things supposed to have bird claws or something like that?"
Lyrik: "I'm more evolved. Over the years sirens have been able to appear more human like. So I am able to live among the mortals unnoticed."
Alan: "Okay, okay. I didn't ask for your life story."
Edgar turned around and noticed a group of vamps coming toward them. "Um Alan I think we should be getting out of here. Sam come on!" Edgar pulled on Sam's arm and yanked him away from Lyrik. They ran out of the club. When they arrived and the Frog's house Edgar placed Serafine on the couch. Sam kept trying to leave.
Sam: "I need to be with Lyrik. Let me go."
Alan: "Trust me Sam this is for your own good."
Sam said angrily, "No! I must be with her. If you try to stop me I'll have to get violent."
Alan: "Yeah like you'd actually hit me; we're friends."
Sam grabbed Alan by the shirt and punched him in the face. Alan fell to the ground. Edgar realized that Sam could be a problem in his condition. He pushed him into his room and locked Sam in. Sam banged on the door trying to get out so he could be with his love Lyrik. Alan got up from the floor rubbing his head. Sam had hit him pretty hard.
Edgar told Serafine, "The only way to remain human is to resist your urge for blood."
"Well that seems easy. Just don't stalk people and bite into their necks. I've kept from doing it this long."
"Yeah it may seem easy now but the urge will grow stronger until you can't fight it anymore."
"Then what will happen to me. Edgar, I don't want to be a vampire. I have great skin. I don't want to be all pale and pasty."
"Yeah it'd be such a shame to see you lose your looks. You don't have much to begin with."
"Woo burn," Serafine said sarcastically. Then turning serious again she said, "Edgar! How am I gonna get out of this mess?"
"Look the only way is to kill Treat. But that's going to take some time. He's not very vunerable. I mean he is the mayor of Santa Carla."
"It's vulnerable."
"What is?"
"No, you said 'vunerable' but it's pronounced vulnerable."
Edgar said to Alan, "I'm trying to save her life here and she's giving me an English lesson."
Alan replied, "As soon as this'whatever' that Sam is going through is over we can make a plan to get rid of Treat once and for all."
Alone in the room Sam began to return to his normal self. Lyrik's effects on him had started to ware off. Sam began to remember the night before. He remembered standing over the dead body and he began to think that he was the one that killed him. All of a sudden Sam was feeling scared. Could he have really killed someone? Of course he had killed vampires before but that was different because well they were already dead. This was different. He may have killed an actual living human being. Sam tried to open the door to get out. Realizing it was locked he knocked on the door. Edgar checked to make sure that Sam was back to normal.
"Okay Sam if you are really back to normal then you have to pass this test. Who is the coolest guy ever?"
"Edgar what does that have to do with anything? Besides I'm the coolest guy."
"All right Sammy it is you! Get out here buddy we got work to do."
Sam thought of a plan and went to the club with Edgar, Alan, and Serafine. He hadn't told them what he was planning but to just follow along. When they got to the night club Sam was shocked to see Treat there with Ash and Lyrik by his side.
Treat, said "Sam, I knew you'd show up here eventually."
"Treat I want to make a deal."
"Well Sam you're hardly in the position to make any deals. You are on my turf now."
"I will give my self up if you spare Serafine."
"Why aren't we the little hero."
Edgar, Alan, and Serafine protested Sam's proposal. Serafine told Sam that he didn't have to give his life for her but Sam wouldn't listen to her. Sam felt Serafine was in this whole mess because of him. He had been so obsessed with seeing Lyrik again that he wasn't able to see Ash and Lyrik for who they really are. Sam also felt that he deserved anything bad that would happen to him since he had killed the police officer.
Sam said, "Okay Treat, you and I right here right now. If I win you have to change Serafine back to normal. If you win then you can turn me into a vampire."
"Well it is a tempting offer Sam. Of course I'll win so what the heck I could use a little work out."
"I wouldn't be so cocky Treat."
"You wouldn't be so anything boy. Allow me to inform you of little information your mother has been holding out on you. You see Sam I own the land your Gramps' house is on. And you and your family only have until next month to get out."
"You're lying. My mother would have told me. Besides why wouldn't you just kick us out right away?"
"Well as Mayor I don't want to appear heartless to my adoring public."
"But you are heartless."
"LOL Sam."
"What the hell does that mean?"
"You'll find out in the future. Anyway prepare to cross over Sam."
"You'll never turn me into a vampire Treat. I'd rather die first."
"That can be arranged."
Sam stepped into the center of the room with Treat standing there across from him. Sam pulled out a stake from his back pocket. Treat didn't look surprised.
"You don't have your little twin cousin this time Sam. I will not be fooled again."
"Oh no?" Sam had purposely stalled Treat by proposing to give himself up. Sam had made a deal with Tevin just before they came to the club. Tevin had been a loyal vampire to Treat but Sam made him an offer he couldn't refuse. When Sam looked over at Tevin that was the signal for Tevin to lift the window shades. The shades were lifted and by now the sun was out. The sun light shined through the open window. Treat felt it as his skin began to catch fire. Sam and his friends watched as the unsuspecting vampires began to burst into flames. Lyrik used her coat and covered Ash and they ran out of the club. Treat grabbed the coat off of Tamora and covered himself. As a result Tamora burned and she was killed. Treat pushed the vamps out of the way and ran to safety. Sam ran after Treat. He wanted to make sure he was staked this time. Sam threw the stake at Treat. Treat caught it and broke it in half.
"Not this time Sam. Try again when you're actually ready to face me."
"Oh I'll get you next time Treat. You'll pay for what happened to Serafine and for trying to take away my home."
Treat got in his limousine and ordered Trace to drive away. Sam knew it was too late now. Treat had escaped again.
Inside the club Edgar, Serafine, and Alan walked over the ashes of dead vampires. Tevin was the only one still alive. He had managed to cover himself from the sunlight. Sam had offered Tevin life in return for his help. Tevin had never really liked being a vampire. He had longed to be human again. The others still had no idea why Tevin had helped them. While waiting for Sam to return Alan tried to make small talk with Tevin.
"So you used to work for Treat huh?"
Tevin just looked at Alan and raised an eyebrow.
Alan continued, "So what was up with that Ash character? I thought Treat only liked to suck the blood of people with names that began with 'T'."
"Yeah well actually Tobias turned Ash into a vampire."
"Hmm." Alan looked down at the ground and tapped his fingers on his sides. "So do you like stuff?"
Just then Sam walked in. Alan said "Oh Sam finally. I thought you'd never come."
Sam told his friends that Tevin was helping them because Star was able to help Tevin. They walked over to Star's apartment. Star had looked through her family's spell book. Star came from a family of gypsies. Her grandmother had a spell that could restore a vampire's soul. Star performed the spell on Tevin and his soul was restored. He no longer had the desire to kill humans for blood. Tevin thanked Sam and Star for their help. He still needed blood to live but at least he knew he wouldn't have to shed the blood of people anymore.

Terry was laying in his bed getting ready to go to sleep. He called out to his mother. "Mom? Where's my glass of water?"
"Hold on Terry. Just be patient."
"No mom, I want it now."
"Honey I'm on the phone."
"Shut up mom I want some water."
"That's it." She put the phone down and brought Terry a glass of water. She put it down hard on the night stand. "Here you go brat."
"Thank you mother. And I'm sorry the way I acted. It's just I had a really bad day."
"You didn't have to tell me to shut up."
"I know, I know. I'm sorry mother. Do you forgive me?"
She looked at her son sternly and then noticed his sweet face and gradually smiled. "Of course I do honey." She knelt over to Terry to hug him. Terry wrapped his arms around her and hugged her. He then began to squeeze her harder. She struggled but Terry kept squeezing her. When she was unconscious Terry threw her body to the ground. He then shot fire from his hand and burned her to death. Terry said to himself, "Ash to ash, dust to dust."
