Presley and his friend Layne were camping out in Presley's backyard. They were up in Presley's tree house with their sleeping bags. Presley said, "Okay Layne are you ready to hear the scariest story you've ever heard in your life?"
"Oh I'm real scared Pres. This better not be another one of your lame stories where the monster turns out to be you cat Paxxon after being mutated by nuclear waste."
"Hey I only told that one once. And besides Paxxon can be really scary. Why just last night he killed this huge spider that was in my room."
"Yeah so anyway, the story."
"Oh yeah." Presley held a flashlight under his face to create an eerie illuminating look. He began telling his tale. "So it was a dark and stormy night."
"Heard it."
"Just wait Layne. Two boys were camping out in the woods. They were having a good time until one of them heard a noise. He took the flashlight and went out to find out what was making the noise. His friend told him to come back but he didn't listen and kept going. As he walked deeper into the dark forest he heard sticks cracking behind him. He assumed his friend had come after him. So he turned around to see and said, "Billy?" Only it wasn't Billy. IT WAS A WEREWOLF." As Presley shouted a clash of lightning struck. It startled both boys and Presley dropped the flashlight to the ground.
"Oh real smooth Pres."
"Let me go down and get it." Presley climbed down the tree. He fumbled around in the dark for the flashlight. Presley heard a noise. "Layne is that you?"
"Huh?"
"Nothing. I just thought I heard something."
Presley finally found the flashlight. He turned it on and was startled to see a big hairy face glaring at him. Presley screamed at the top of his lungs. He quickly ran to get away from the beast. Layne called out to Presley from the tree house. All he heard was Presley's cries for help and the growling of the beast. Presley ran to the side of the house. He hid in the corner with the flashlight now turned off. He placed his hand on the floor and felt something furry. He concluded it must be his cat, "Paxxon!" Presley flashed the light on his cat only to see that Paxxon was mutilated. Presley screamed at the site of his mauled cat. As a result the creature found him and came after him again. Presley ran back towards the tree house. He climbed up in a hurry. He was nearly to the top but one of the steps broke off and Presley was hanging from the entrance to the tree house. The beast came up to the tree and jumped up at Presley. It's claws shredded the ends of Presley's jeans. Layne tried desperately to pull Presley up into the tree house. The creature continued to claw at Presley. Layne finally pulled Presley up. After it realized it's prey was gone the creature eventually left. Layne and Presley were so relieved. Presley's parents came running out to see what had happened. Presley tried to tell them it was a monster but they thought it must have been just a stray dog. Presley and Layne both knew what attacked Presley was no dog.
The next dayLaddie was pushed to the ground. He got up and wiped the dirt form his pants. Zed stood there in front of him laughing, with his hair now dyed black. He was just about to push Laddie down again when Finn arrived. Finn said, "Leave him alone Zed. Why don't you pick on someone your own size?"
Zed: "Oh you mean like you?"
Finn: "Well, I uh...You don't scare me Zed."
Sam: "Leave them alone Zed."
Zed: "How cute, Spam's sticking up for his little boyfriend."
Sam: "The name is Sam, and they are my friends. You can't scare us Zedidiah, you punk."
"Oh no? Well I guess maybe you're right. I'm not going to waste my time fighting you if you're not going to be scared. But I do have an idea. I know a way I can scare you Mr. Emerson."
"Oh yeah and how's that?"
"Well I dare you, Finn and Laddie to spend the night in the old haunted Hill house."
"You mean the house that William Hill died in and is supposed to be haunted by his spirit?"
"That's the one. If you, Finn and Laddie can survive the night with out wimping out then I'll lay off picking on them."
"How do I know you will keep your word?"
"Come on Sammy don't you trust your ol' pal Zed? Look if it makes you feel any better I'll also give you 50 bucks if you make it."
"All right we'll stay the night in the Hill house. Just to prove to you wrong."
"Great then I'll meet you guys there tonight at around tennish. Oh and by the way B.Y.O.B."
Zed walked away and left Sam, Finn and Laddie alone. Laddie said, "Sam why did you agree to that jerk's demands? I mean what about the ghosts?"
"Laddie, trust me the place is not haunted. We can make it through the night unharmed. Plus we'll get some money out of it so why not?"
"All right I'm with you buddy."
Finn added, "Uh I don't think this is such a good idea. But we're still going to go aren't we?" Sam and Laddie were already leaving. "And now I'm talking to myself."
Sam then saw Timandra walking in the halls of the high school. He stopped her. Sam asked, "Um hey Timandra I was wondering if maybe you might want to go out this weekend."
"I can't Sam. I'm going to be busy."
"Well it seems like you've been 'busy' for a long time now. Each time I've asked you out you've been 'busy.' What's going on Tim? If you don't want to see me anymore just tell me."
"No Sam that's not it. I justI can't see you anymore."
"Why are you going blind?"
"Sam you know what I mean."
"I know I was just hoping you'd start laughing and forget you said that."
"Look Sam I like you. I'm just dealing with some personal issues right now. I have to go."
"All right. Bye Timandra."
Timandra walked away from the boy who she cared about. But she knew that if she stood with him Sam would find out her secret and she'd only end up hurting him. She believed that shying away from Sam was the only way to end it without hurting him too much. She realized Treat would be upset to find out she'd distanced herself from Sam but she hoped she could bargain with him to keep her secret.
Mike came over to Star's house later that day. She pulled out her Terot cards. The previous night there had been reports of two people who were attacked by some unknown beast. Star believed she could find out what the beast was by reading her Terot cards. She discovered it was a werewolf. Mike wondered if this werewolf could be related to Adair Rowe, the werewolf they had killed last summer. Star remembered reading something in her family album about vampires. She took the family album and looked for it. Then she found the passage that she was looking for. It stated that her grandmother had cursed the Rowe family. Walter Rowe stole money from Star's grandmother. She then turned him into a werewolf for pay back. As a result Walter's two sons were cursed as to being werewolf's too. And their offspring would be cursed as well. So Star concluded that this new werewolf could be the offspring of Adair. Mike and Star decided to go patrolling for the werewolf tonight. They enlisted the help of Edgar and Alan but Sam and Laddie said they had something else to do. Sam told Lucy that he was spending the night at Laddie's house. Laddie told his mother that he was staying at Sam's. So Sam and Laddie went to Hill house to meet Zed while Mike and the others went out looking for the werewolf.
Sam and Laddie caught up with Finn on the way to Hill house. They saw Zed waiting for them in front of the old deserted mansion. Zed told them he would keep an eye on the place to make sure that they didn't try to sneak out during the night. Sam, Finn, and Laddie went into the house and put their stuff in the front living room. Sam and Finn decided to look around the house. Laddie looked up at the picture over the fireplace. It was of a girl about his age. Laddie looked away then looked back at the picture and noticed the girl move. She said, "You must be careful. Leave this house now."
Sam and Finn came back into the room and saw Laddie staring at the painting with an astonished look.
Sam asked, "Laddie what's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost."
"I think I have. The girl in that painting talked to me Sam."
"I think you need to get some rest buddy."
"No Sam she did."
"This is a pretty creepy looking house. I'm sure the Tim Burton-ish surroundings could make you see things that aren't there."
"Yeah I guess you're right. It's just I was so sure I heard her talking."
Just then the three boys heard some noises. There were some clanking chains and howling. They knew it was just Zed trying to scare them. He had sneaked in and planned to scare the boys so that they'd run out and they'd lose the bet. But Zed's pathetic attempts weren't working. So he tried to think of a surefire way to scare them out of the house. Zed went up to the attic. In there he saw a big old chest. It had a big lock on it. Zed concluded that whatever was in the chest must be real valuable or else it wouldn't have such a big lock. So Zed broke the lock off with a few quick blows with a metal bar. Zed opened the chest and a big gust of wind came out and blew the boy to the ground. Zed looked in front of him in horror. A large ghost like figure was hovering in front of him. Zed ran away screaming. Sam, Finn, and Laddie heard Zed's screams but dismissed it as just another lame attempt of his to scare them.
Timandra went into the basement of her house. There was cage in the far corner. Timandra walked in and locked herself in. Treat had allowed her to do this in the past but last night she was let loose and tonight the same would happen. Timandra could only remember bits and pieces of the night before. She remembered the screams of terror from the boy she had chased. She hated what she was. Then Timandra felt that all to familiar feeling coming over here again. It was a painful metamorphous. She could feel her body growing stronger and hairier. Her teeth were now fangs. Her eyes large and yellow. Finally it was over and Timandra was a werewolf. She howled at the full moon. Then Trey, one of Treat's vampires, came down into the basement. It was his duty to let the werewolf free. Trey unlocked the cage and Timandra burst out. Timandra could not control what she did as the werewolf. She attacked Trey but he evaded her. So the werewolf left the basement and went off to find fresh meat.
Edgar and Alan are in the park acting as bait for the werewolf. They see Zed running by screaming. Edgar and Alan both looked at each other. They both thought that Zed was running from the werewolf. So they followed Zed and hoped that he might be able to tell them what he was afraid of. But unfortunately Zed bumped into a tree as he looked back to see if anything was following him. He was now lying on the floor unconscious.
Edgar said, "Do you think we should help him?"
Then they both answered simultaneously, "No." So the two continued their search for the werewolf.
Meanwhile Mike and Star were patrolling the cemetery under the full moon's light. Star wanted to find the werewolf and see if she could help it. She felt guilty since it was her family that caused the Rowe's to be cursed into being werewolves.
Then the werewolf jumped out of the bushes. She pushed Star to the ground. She lashed Star's shirt. Mike kicked the werewolf off Star. He tried to throw a net over her but she ran away. Mike and Star followed the werewolf in hot pursuit. They met up with Edgar and Alan and they all went after the werewolf.
Laddie went again to look for the girl he had seen. Meanwhile Sam and Finn stood in the front room talking. Finn asked, "So Sam think the real ghost will show up?"
" 'The real ghost?' Come on Finn you don't really believe in that do you?"
"Well I happen to know the legend of William Hill and how his family was killed in this house. It says that one night they all went crazy with fear and ended up killing each other."
"Really? How do you know all this?"
"Well I grew up here in Santa Carla so my parents used to tell me that story when I was younger. Plus I love anything scary or about monsters. That's why I decided to became a
sorcerer, or sorcerer in training rather. So I could be more in tune with the spiritual realm."
"Yeah well hanging out with us you'll see a lot of monsters and stuff. So it'll be comforting to know we got a sorcerer on our side."
"Sorcerer in training," Finn corrected.
"You know I wouldn't be surprised if some kind of ghost did live here. But if it did you could zap it away with some kind of spell right."
"Well not exactly. So far the only spell that I've cast that actually worked was the one where the day repeated itself. And I even screwed that up."
"So then how will we get rid of the ghost if it comes?"
Just then in burst a flash of light and a high pitched scream. Sam and Finn were startled by it and yelled. Laddie stood there with his flash light laughing. He said, "I got you guys!"
Sam and Finn realized they'd been had. Sam said, "Laddie that wasn't funny man, I swallowed my gum."
"Sorry Sam I just couldn't resist. You guys were so focused on each other that I had to take the opportunity to catch you off guard."
"Real funny Laddie. Now come on we should get some rest."
The boys laid out their sleeping bags on the floor in the front room. The ghost watched them as they slept. Then he began to go into their dreams. And turned their good dreams into nightmares. Once in their minds the ghost knew their deepest fears. With this knowledge he could bring their worst nightmare to life. Laddie awoke from his sleep. He woke to find Star standing in front of him.
Laddie: "Star, what are you doing here?"
Star: "Well we're here to initiate you again."
Laddie: "Who's 'we'?"
David: "Why, you haven't forgotten your old friend David already now have you."
Laddie: "David! But you're dead. Michael killed you."
David: "Well you can't keep a good vampire down."
Star: "Now you're going to join us too Laddie. It is your destiny to be a vampire, and you know it."
Laddie: "No Star. We're good. Why did you get mixed up with David again? You know he's evil."
David: "Come on Laddie, join us."
Laddie: "No! SAM, FINN WAKE UP!"
Sam and Finn awoke from their nightmares. And by doing so their nightmares came to life as well. Max materialized in front of the frightened Sam. Laddie and Sam were both shocked by the two supposedly dead vampires standing in front of them. They were not prepared to fight them but luckily Sam always had a stake handy. He ran to his backpack and pulled it out. Max's eyes glowed with rage. He opened his mouth revealing his sharp fangs and he growled. Sam ran at him with the stake aimed at his heart. Max disappeared and Sam ran into the wall. Max then materialized in back of Sam. Meanwhile Finn had to deal with his real life nightmarea spell gone wrong. It was a simple spell of levitating a pencil but now there were hundreds of sharp pencils floating around. And they began to jab at Finn. He ran trying to avoid the deadly tips of graphite. Then he bumped into Max.
Max said, "Out of my way boy." He pushed Finn to the floor. Now speaking to Sam, "You can't win Sam. This time I will succeed. Lucy will be my wife and you and Michael will be vampires just like Dwayne, Marko, and Paul."
As he said their names Dwayne, Marko, and Paul materialized in the house.
Dwayne: "Join us little bro."
Marko: "It will be an excellent adventure."
Paul: "Come on Sam. We already got your mom and brother."
Lucy and Mike appeared in front of Sam with yellow eyes and sharp fangs. Lucy went into Max's arms.
Lucy: "Come on Sam, don't fight it. We can be happy with Max if you just give in."
Mike: "Yeah bro. David and the guys aren't such bad guys."
Sam: "No. This isn't real. You guys aren't really here."
They all disappeared except for Max and David.
Max: "You can't make us disappear Sam. You have to fight us."
Sam: "Oh that will be no problem."
Sam fought with Max and David. Laddie watched as Sam struggled. Laddie wanted to help his friend but then the girl came out of the painting again.
Laddie: "Who are you? Why are you here?"
The girl replied, "My name is Avalon. I am here to protect the house. And I can see you and your friend need my help now."
"Do you know how to stop these vampires Avalon?"
"It is not the vampires you have to fear. There is a spirit that haunts this house. He is a fear spirit. Your friend Zed released him."
"So Zed is to blame for all this."
"The spirit can make your worst fears come to life. You need not worry about the vampires. It is the spirit you must stop and then they will be gone as well."
"Well how do I stop the spirit?"
"You must recite the spell that William Hill used to vanquish the spirit long ago. It is in the same chest that the spirit was locked in."
"Where's the chest?"
"In the attic. You must hurry Laddie or your nightmares will stay alive for ever."
Laddie ran up to the attic while Sam fought with the two viscous vamps. He found the chest that Zed had opened. Taped to the bottom was a piece of paper. Laddie carefully removed the paper. On it was the spell. Laddie looked at it and read. Meanwhile Star's shirt was red with blood stains. She had been hurt pretty bad by the werewolf. Mike vowed to catch the werewolf. They didn't have a silver bullet this time but they could at least catch the werewolf and stop her from killing again. The four of them had set a trap for the werewolf. And she was just about to walk into it. The werewolf stepped on the net trying to get the meat that had been left there. Just as she stepped onto the net it pulled up around her and she was caught. Mike knew the net would not hold her for long so he quickly used a tranquilizer dart and the werewolf was knocked out.
After Laddie had recited the spell the spirit was brought back into the chest. Laddie closed it and locked it tight. Laddie ran down the stairs and found Sam and Finn. They were still confused as to what had happened. Avalon made herself visible again. This time Sam and Finn saw her.
Avalon: "Thank you Laddie. You have saved me."
Sam: "Saved you from what?"
Avalon: "Well the spirit and I cannot exist at the same time for long. If he were to remain here I would have eventually been obliterated."
Laddie: "So what will you do now?"
Avalon: "Well I have to stay here and guard the house."
Laddie: "What if I told you, you could live a normal life again?"
Avalon: "Well that's impossible Laddie. The spirit killed me and my destiny was to remain here and make sure he never was released."
Laddie: "Not exactly. You see there was this little scrap under the chest along with the spell. It will bring you back to life."
Avalon: "But what about the spirit?"
Laddie: "By bringing you back to life the spirit can never be released again."
Avalon: "Oh thank you Laddie."
Sam: "All right you two enough with the mushy stuff. Say the spell already Lad."
Laddie recited the spell and Avalon was brought to life. Sam, Finn, Laddie, and Avalon left Hill house now that it was morning they had won the bet.
Mike and Star watched as the werewolf morphed back into human form. To everyone's surprise they saw Timandra lying there under the net. Timandra awoke drowsy from the tranquilizer. Star covered Timandra's body with her jacket. No one knew what to think as they came to realize that their friend Timandra was a werewolf. Mike began to think of how Sam was going to react.
Timandra: "Well you all know my secret now. I suppose you all hate me now."
Star: "No Timandra not at all."
Edgar: "Are you kidding? She's a werewolf. We have to stop her."
Alan: "Yeah we can't have her going around killing innocent people at night then in the morning come over to 'hang out'. I think I can get us a silver bullet by tomorrow but it might be tough."
Mike: "Wait. Let's just let Timandra explain."
Timandra: "Well you see Adair was my father. After Marty killed him I was left alone and helpless to Treat's threats. Treat forced me to work for him. I was to become part of your group and then lead you into Treat's trap. But I tried to escape from Treat. But now you guys caught me. I never wanted to hurt anyone."
Star: "Don't worry Timandra we will help you."
Edgar: "Are you sure we want to take in this stray?"
Mike: "She's our friend. We have to, for Sam's sake at least."
Alan: "He's right bro."
Timandra: "Please let me be the one to tell Sam."
Star: "Of course."
Timandra and all the others were at the Emerson house when Sam, Finn, Laddie and Avalon arrived.
Sam: "What's going on? Timandra what are you doing here?"
Edgar: "She followed us home can we keep her?"
Sam was perplexed by the joke. Timandra took Sam into the other room to tell him her secret. She explained that she was a werewolf and that she had been working for Treat. Treat had used her father Adair and now he was controlling her. That is why she had been acting weird and tried to break up with him.
"So what about the man that was chasing you when we first met?"
"That was Tucker, one of Treat's vampires. He was trying to bring me back to Treat so I could attack you guys like my father had."
"So Adair was your father? Why do you have a different last name?"
"My full name is Timandra Yates-Rowe. But Treat advised me to drop the Rowe when I moved here so no one would suspect that Adair and I were related."
Sam didn't know how to react to the news. It was one thing to find out his girlfriend was a werewolf but to find out she had been lying to him ever since they met was another. And Timandra felt guilty that she had led Sam on for so long. She told everyone she was going to leave for awhile. Sam didn't want her to go but she had to. She was going back to her home, where she lived before she and Adair moved to Santa Carla. And hoped that her time away would give Sam some time to forgive her.
Meanwhile Lucy and Gramps were in the other room unaware of what was going on in the living room. A young man had just been there and left Lucy an envelope. She opened it and read. It said that Gramps did not legally own the land they were living on. As a result Mayor Wilson would take over the land and give them a couple of months to move out, then he was going to auction it off. Gramps knew he owned the landand this was just a scheme Treat had cooked up.
"Dad what are we going to do? It looks as though Mayor Wilson has everything in order here to take our house away from us."
"That bastard will not get away with it Lucy."
"Should we tell the boys?"
"No. I will handle this. I know telling the boys is exactly what Treat wants us to do. Listen Lucy I have sort of a past with Treat Wilson. You see before he was mayor of this town he was just another lowly vampire. He had son about Sam's age. And well one night he and his son attacked me but I was ready with some stakes. Treat escaped but his son did not. I staked his son and now I think that is why he is doing this. To get his revenge. But I will try to think of something to stop him."
"Well please try dad. I don't want our family threatened by yet another crazy vampire."
The boy who had delivered the paper was still lurking around outside. He saw Timandra leaving. He knew she had failed in her mission to get close to Sam. So now it was his turn. It was now up to him to get Sam over to their side since Timandra had failed. And he didn't plan to waist any time.
