These images are photographs and etchings merged together to form an unusual blending of these two very different mediums. We have produced a truly unique process, which we call ‘MERGING VISIONS’ under our artistic name of Gerald Man.
Merging Visions Series One [2004] is the combined work of PhotoMedia Artist - Ann Fitzgerald and Printmaker – Juanita Wallman.
When I am taking photographs of the flowers I am captivated by the hidden world of shape, colour and texture. The vision I see is one of light and the delicate beauty of shape. I have tried to give the viewer an insight into that beauty. To me beauty does not necessarily mean a perfect bloom. I am more interested in the inner-beauty that I see and feel.
All these images were from flowers either a bloom in my garden, or gifts I received from family and friends. Each time I view these images I have the added joy of remembering the initial joy I experienced from them.
In all of the artwork that I have produced flowers and the environment keep coming back to me time and time again.
To choose my favourite of all flowers was difficult amongst these beauties but I think the rose will always win hands down.
As we began to work with the images, we found how interesting two very different mediums of work could blend so beautifully together. Then we added sepia to the mix and these amazing images are the incredible result of our merging of two visions and two mediums.
The artist’s book is our interpretation of looking through windows out into the secret world of our secret garden of sepia flowers.
