stylistic changes, GIVEN THE GRAVE was born.
Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, this band's
music is the result of creative input from all of the
members, and coalesces many styles of metal, grind,
and hardcore, resulting in a sound that we like to think is fairly original.
Officially forming in the Spring of '05, we have had
the opportunity to play at great venues like The
Compound and The Launchpad in Albuquerque, and open
for a wide range of bands such as Vader, Project 86,
With Dead Hands Rising, Winds Of Plague, Ten Crowns,
Animosity, Ed Gein, and Curl Up And Die. We have also
enjoyed playing with local bands Victimas, With These Weapons, Minus 7, and Last Fifteen.
Our lyrics deal with every day struggles and
triumphs, purposefully done in a positive way to
break out of the stranglehold that negativity has on
metal in general. Predominantly (deeply) personal in
nature, we are not only limited to writing tales of
heartbreak and redemption; we have thoughts on world
events, conspiracy theories, and ancient thought / texts as well.
Our purpose of existence is to challenge ourselves as
musicians, grow more as people, and to make music
that we ourselves would like to hear. Basically, it's
freinds making music together, trying our best to
conjure up the forces of METAL deep within our souls.
