"The Straubs hoped to make their first purchase (a very compartmentalized 1950's
style home nestled in the hills of Pittsburgh), their own. This involved finding and
utilizing the beautiful aspects of the existing house under a strict "newly-wed"
budget- and improve on this structure by entering into it their personalities.
Throughout the project, the couple worked playfully together, yet maintained fairly
conservative opinions individually. Mrs. Julie Straub wanted (but felt scared of)
color, Mr. Adam Straub enjoyed the texture, richness, and rustic nature of wood.
I helped to merge these ideas, using my clients' colorful, fun-loving humor- which
was done by opening up the space, adding a moderately-toned palette, and pricing
and selecting unique fixtures. Together we incorporated husband and wife into the home,
creating an atmosphere where Julie and Adam can grow and develop as a couple."
