Stephen's smoothie recipe
Mood:  lazy
Now Playing: Royksopp - Melody A.M.
Topic: Stephen Says
1 cup unsweetened soy milk,
1/2 cup of orange juice,
1/2 cup of plain yogurt,
2 bananas,
3 tbsp honey,
(Other fun things to add: 1 tbsp of vanilla or a sprig of mint)
A handfull of berries,
and two of any desired fruit(s),
Blend.
Makes enough for 3 people or two people who want to drink lots of smoothie.

This past week's fruity focus has been on kiwis, nectarines, peaches & strawberries. Past hits have involved blueberries & raspberries. I want to try a mango but am intimidated by the fact that I've never bought one; let alone prepared one.

It has been a very quiet week, all told. We're fighting off colds and are looking forward to not doing a heck of alot.

Sounds absolutely delish!!! Oh, I've got a yummy mango smoothie recipe for ya. Will email it to you later. When purchasing mangoes for smoothies, make sure they're soft (well, not mushy soft, but not too firm). The riper the mango, the sweeter. Anyway, you can use firm mangoes for other things like chutneys or dishes you'd like to add a little oomph to, since they're pretty tart when they're firm. I've got an amazing vegetarian dish for ya. I make a spinach/mango salad with a homemade balsamic vinaigrette. It's alaways a party pleaser, people will think you really know how to cook, it's pleasing to the pallate, and very easy to make.

You know, I really wish that I'd read this before going out to the grocery store - then I wouldn't have picked up tinned pineapple in an attempt to make my smoothy more exotic.

Stephen...was wondering if you guys had a juicer. I also have some juicing recipes. They've got all sorts of juices for different purposes like energy lifters or immune boosters. One of my faves is an apple-carrot juice. It sounds like an odd combination, but it's got lots of vitamins and surprisingly delish.

We've got a blender - E & others reccomended it over regular juicers, which get gummed up easily.

Believe it or not, I bought a mango yesterday.
After years of not liking their substance or feeling inmy mouth I have finally required a taste for them.

Hi Susan!!!! It's been a long time since we've corresponded, but you've been in my thoughts! I think last time I saw you was at Stephen and E's wedding!

Stephen, yes, blenders are great and do almost any job well. The juicer I got is fantastic though. Clean-up is super easy and there's a section that collects whatever pulp there is from the fruits or veggies. This particular brand doesn't have a lot of pulpy stuff though. I'm quite pleased, as I know my friends have complained about the gummy, messy left-over stuff some juicers have.

Mmmmmmmmmmmango lassies are great with kebabs! ;p (or veggie curries, in your case, Stephen!)
