Madness!

So this is what a new dehumidifier will bring: re-arranging the upstairs, throwing out trash, tidying up, vaccuming, ironing, dishes, dishes, dishes!

Tomorrow I'm going out to buy a bunch of things to spruce up the flat. Kitchen things, mostly, shelving, get the dry cleaning taken care of, take out the recycling, buy some coat hooks, etc, etc, etc.

E&I have agreed not to exchange presents this Christmas; just get the flat in shape and make it a little more livable and a little less weird.

We will succeed on the first and fail on the last, I believe.

W'happened?

I'm expecting to hear from the landlord tomorrow, telling us that we're being given our one month's notice.

Yep, our 100 pound moisture reducing machine has arrived and is sucking away all traces of humidity in the flat.

No more misty windows, mouldy walls & ceilings, or expanding & buckling window panes.

And as I type this, in comes Elisaeth home from work early with delicious olives and a Christmas card for mom, with our Christmas present in it.

Thank you mom, you just bought us a dehumidifier!

And now, a much better entry
Mood:  on fire
Topic: Stephen Says
Alright, After E's seriously bizarre attempt at blogging, here are my two cents the decipher what she was on about:

Yes, I have been busy, busy, busy. Yes, I meant to get back on the ball with so many things this weekend, yes, I was sick 4 times yesterday after my night out, no, I have not gotten on the ball with anything.

Friday was the Snowdon Christmas piss up. I was threatened with expulsion from the pub for wearing my touque. A female co-worker of mine then wore it and wasn't threatened with anything. They tried to kick E out for dancing on a stool. Then we left and went to, possibly the coolest dance club in Woking.

How cool was it? So cool that for the last 18 months that we've been saying "We've got to give Vamps a try," I feel rather foolish. It was the same useless tripe that all of Woking has to offer. Except more stuffy.

So then me, and some of my collegues staggered back to the flat to crash for the night. E had very kindly set the place up for visitors but not before pissing herself on the way home.

Hey, was I allowed to type that?

I was woken of by the fuel explosion in London this morning - I actually thought it was an earthquake at the time but it didn't last long enough for it to be a proper earthquake.

Starting from this morning we watched the plume of smoke hover over Woking, before descending on us.

Nothing else to say, really. We've been to the French market & have tried to buy a dehumidifier but you can't get one in all of Woking. Our apartment is slowly rotting all around us and it's making us very paranoid. It's making Elisabeth far more paranoid than me, though.

Busy
Topic: Stephen Says
Just so busy.
Will be less busy this weekend.

Oh, and London is smelly, dirty & filled with terribly rude people. This morning I realized that, if it weren't for the fact that London is always like this, a person would think that some kind of disaster had just occured.

Ugh. I'm tired, too.

Holy Mouldy!
Topic: Elisabeth's Entries

Stephen woke up and started listening to Grand Buffet, blasting such hits as "Cool as hell" and "Benjamin Franklin music". Sigh. He's on his way to some training in London today.

I should really get ready for work soon, but first, let me talk about dampness. Do you know what a damp and cool climate + a shitty heating system in a flat breeds? Condensation, dampness & mould...yuck! We've tried battling the mould & have bought a squeegie, but really, it just comes back the next day. Will we have to deal with this all winter?

Right--have a good mould-free day!!!

Wine, cake & garlic bread--and pasta
Mood:  party time!
Now Playing: Too Much too Handle
Topic: Elisabeth's Entries

Stephen is my favorite today: unexpectedly not on for the night shift, he cleaned the house, did the dishes & bought wine, cake, cookies & garlic bread. Now he's playing air guitar. What a man, what a man, what a mighty good man...

Workity work work work work work...got a haircut today...learned how to get "hyper curls" a bit too much for me. My hair and I simply prefer to be au natural....

Did some singing...hit low C & high C at two different times...but could not repeat. Fun with Les Mis & Phantom..."Oh my friends, my friends!!! Don't ask me, what you're sacrifice is for!"

I've really got to "get out" more....

There's an interesting Oxfam campaign where they organize fundraising trips to like Mt. Kilamnjaro, South America or Vietnam, where you raise a certain amount of money to be able to go and visit the Oxfam projects & hike around...looks interesting, and maybe before going back to Can-duh we'll do it...

blurp---need more wine.....

A Blog Entry
Mood:  energetic
Topic: Elisabeth's Entries

So hey, wha'appened?

Last weekend Stephen & went into London to see the League of Gentlemen Are Behind You. First we clawed our way through the tube system to the Tate Britain for some exposure to the visual arts scene, and then ate dinner & drank coffee in Hammersmith until the show started.

ASIDE: The coffee shop was full except for 2 seats next to 2 ladies when we were ordering the coffee. I had the money so I asked Stephen to see if there was any place to sit. He comes back saying that the ladies told him that they didn't want him to sit there.

Ok. So after the coffees are poured into mugs & are paid for, Stephen says, why don't we get them to go, and find a place in the mall to sit?

I don't give up so easily my friends. So I went to see those two ladies (if you can really call them that) and asked if those two seats were taken: "Well...oh are you with that guy? Ok, ok then." I got the distinct impression they thought Stephen was a pervert and they didn't want him around. Now Stephen has a different interpretation, but I do have woman's intuition...at least I think I do.... END

Ok so the League of Gentleman: I was very excited for this show. I decided to fork out the 10 pounds for the program, and was all set with pen & notebook poised to record the show...but when they came out on stage, I couldn't even make out their faces. This is due to my eyes being really bad, even with glasses, and that we were sitting way far back. So I really felt alientated and like it was a pointless exercise. I left wondering why I paid money to see the silouhettes of 3 actors I admire rehashing their old stuff. Not a very fun companion for Stephen, who doesn't have eye trouble.

But it must be said: their costume changes and physical changes of charactor, from their voice, speech, posture, etc... were phenominal. But I really thought that in a live experience, you'd get to see another side to them that you don't get from filmed performances. No so in my opinion, and so I am disappointed.

Anyway, as I said, Stephen liked it, and so did many other...

SUNDAY: We were both grumpy. Not much to say....

MONDAY: Stephen was at home...not blogging again!! and I worked.

That's all folks'

Morning Folks!
Mood:  caffeinated
Topic: Stephen Says
This was the conversation E&I had on the way to the pub last night:

ME: You know, our blogging has really fallen by the way-side.

SHE: Well you're the one who's not working right now. It's your responsibility.

ME: Oh.

So here's me blogging for a little bit about random things over the last few days. Feel free for your eyes to glaze over right... about... Now!

So yeah, I've been on annual leave for a few days, just sort of relaxing & unwinding, getting caught up on a few things (But not really). The main purpose for this block of time that I took off (Aside from not wanting to get burned out at work [which was well on its way to happening.]) was to get a final draft of my MA play done so that I could start submitting it in the new year. I've done a third of it and am just writing up additional scenes, fleshing out characters, and generally improving it. This is, of course, an incredible thing considering that, in my official feedback, I was told 'There is no way that you can improve it.'

Otherwise, it's just grey & dreary. The predicted snow never came and it doesn't seem like Christmas without it.

I've noticed an increase in people wearing Tibetan touques like the one I bought in Toronto this fall (Dare I say that I started the trend?), so I don't look quite so strange but, much to our amusement, we were heckled the other night. Elisabeth was especially impressed by the fact that they were in a car, it was dark and, in the split second between when they saw us and passed us, someone had the wherewithall to shout out "Nice hat!"

Another interesting thing about UKers wearing the Tibetan Touque is that, even though it's like 5 degrees, no warmer - almost 10 degrees outside, women still tie the touque up under their chins.

Very, very strange.

League of Gentlemen is on Saturday and I cannot impress on y'all how excited we are. We're getting a hotel room to stay in London and are bringing the camera. Elisabeth wants to see if she can meet sexy Reese, I want to see if I can meet sexy Mark and so we'll probably end up seeing sexy Steve which will still be a victory.
