I found these hook-liked stems at a recreation park the other day. Was
fascinated by the look and shape of them. Strangely, that night I had a
dream. These stems emerged from water like a tentacle of an octopus. There
was a lone boat sailing aimlessly towards them, as if it was conducting an
unexplained duty. Though the dream was vague and brief but it did make an
impression. When I woke up, I said to myself, it would be an interesting
idea to reproduce what I have dreamt and record it on photograph.
1 - I have little problem recreating the lake as I have a tank built, the
very same tank I use for my other shot.
I fill the tank with water and darken the water will black ink.
2 - For so many years, I have not folded a paper boat, time to rediscover
my old skill. Ironically it took me 30 minutes to fold a simple boat like
that. Then I use blue-tac to paste on the boat. Provided excellent water
resistant material.
3 - The island was also created using blue-tac. I have to admit, I just
love these sticky material.
4 - I used tungsten light to illuminate and provide the golden tone for
the shot. The tone was further enhanced by the use of a warm filter.
5 - I metered on the mid tone of the scene and applied a large aperture to
provide enough DOF
