The Otway Fly - Treetop Walk - Page 3
The Otway Fly

To the Tower

Here's the top of the spiral staircase which wionds around the tower which is approx. 50 m. above the forest floor. Mum couldn't get up here, she waited on the ramp below.

Looking down

Here's the view looking down from the top of the tower. We can see the top of the trees. The air was thick with lady bugs. We're about 50 m. off the ground.

Shaky knees

Here we are looking down from the tower, onto two of the ramps below.

Long way to the top ...

Here's another view down on the ramps, from the tower.
The ramp on the left is cantilevered and juts out - suspended over the forest. When people move, it sways. The view was magnifiscent, but I ran out of disk space by then.
The ramp on the right is the one we came from. Mum had to go back that way and catch the buggy back to the start as the alternative was too difficult for her.
The ramp in the middle leads to a wooden ramp and steps which go down into a lush, mossy gully. We then had a long (30 min.) up-hill walk back to our starting point. We were pooped as it was hot and humid.
A refreshing cold drink in the cafe, then a short wait till Mario got the car and collected us from the cafe, and we were back on our way home.
We took the road (which included 12 Km of unsealed, corrugated winding track) back to the coast. We went right through the forest which was all tall, tall trees, tree ferns and gullies.
The drive home took over 3 hours as we drove along the Great Ocean road - always a magnificent drive. We stopped for dinner in Geelong and were home by 8:30 that night.
