Island of Hawai'i: South Point 2003.
Angler: Bernie Llanes. Weight: 137.5 Lbs. Bernie Llanes fourth 100+ pound Ulua is the largest to date from the shores of the Big Island. the fish was taken using a half and half pole, Daiwa Sealine 6/0 reel and Suffix 100lb test mainline. the bait used was a three pound Tako. This brute tipped the scale at a massive 137.5 Lbs! |
Island of Maui: Lone Keawe 1983
Angler: Earl Matsui. Weight: 150 Lbs. Earl Matsui bagged this monster Ulua using a 13 1/2 Ft. Sabre, Penn Bluefin 3/0 and 50lb Maxima mainline. I don't have information on the type of bait used. The Ulua weighed in at 150 Lbs. Thats Big! |

Angler: Albert Borges. Weight: 130 Lbs 8oz. Albert Borges made his awsome Ulua capture using a 13 foot custom Ulua pole, 114HL Senator and 80lb Izlon mainline. Bait unknown. This Giant Trevally struck during daylight! No need headlamp! The fish weighed 130Lbs 8oz. page2 |
