The Ride

The ups and downs of each day leave my stomach in knots
Like a rollercoaster ride without the giddy high.
Could this be the day everything starts going down the track
Without ever coming back up again?

Or is this ride like a Ferris wheel
Going around and around and around
Never stopping, always circling.
Good day, bad day, good day, bad day.

To you, it must seem like the fun house
Except with none of the fun.
Never knowing who you'll see in the mirror.
The you are today, or the you from your not-so-long-ago past.

I want nothing more than to leave this crazy carnival behind,
Have the ups and downs, stops and starts and all the spinning end.
I want you to walk the streets, lead your life
With no rides, just health, happiness and hope.
