I really can't vouch 100% for them but I can recite several sources I used
all agreeing with this reading of the family. You may have others who can
evaluate these sources better than I can.

I did my research at the Connecticut Historical Society during genealogical
vacations in 1967 and 1968 etc. I also visited the State Library, and this
was part of a longer term project--I spent more time in Albany NY, also New
York City and other smaller venues. I was covering my whole family
spectrum, especially the Daytons, Barnes, Day, Judd, and other inlaws in
Connecticut. In the stacks of CHS there were 4 box/ envelope items on the
family of Robert Day.
1) file box DAY; 2 envelope Day camp collections; 3 Day Genealogy by
Homer W Brainard; 4 envelope entitled Day, Dayton, Devotion, Deane by
Harriet L Standish 1961 gift of Miss Mary A Northrup of Rochester, NY.

Separately I found a stack file for the Butler Family:
Richard Butler
(deacon of 1st church Hartford) Immigrant ancestor of the Wethersfield
Family came to Boston from Braintree Essex Co
England 1632. First settler Cambridge Mass., then joined Thomas Hooker in
settlement of Hartford. 1634-35 his elder brother William was in the
company. Richard m 1 ??? m 2 Elizabeth Bigelow d Sep 11, 1691, Deacon
Richard d Aug 6, 1684 in Hartford.

Children by first wife:
Thomas;Samuel;Nathaniel

Children by 2nd wife:
Joseph;Daniel;Mary;Elizabeth;Hannah

Thomas bc 1637 at Hartford, m Sarah Stone dau of Rev Samuel.
Had 4 sons and 8 or 9 daughters. The fifth child (not named here) m John Day of
Hartford. I added note: Days call her Sarah. This goes on several pages of
this family, but thought it might support our research.

The Several Day files all agree John married Sarah Butler.

I also found an envelope on Wilson - "Wilson Family Notes by
L.B. Barbour," covering the fact that Robert Wilson married the daughter
of Deacon Edward Stebbins , sister of Editha Stebbins Day.,dau was
either Hannah or Elizabeth, and she m 2 Thomas Caldwell.
Robert and Elizabeth/Hannah had John, m Lydia Cole, dau Hannah Wilson m
Thomas DAY, whose dau Hannah m Thomas Barnes, my line.
