People with matching allele have been coloured as a group. These groups illustrate quite clearly the benefits of DNA testing

Yellow Group   This was an unsuspected link between a family in the United States with one in Canada.  This has given both families a direction for there research at a time when they felt they had reached a dead end.  Hopefully this will lead them to find the link that exists between their lines.  Also as one is a DAY and the other a DAYE it shows the sense in checking out variations in spelling.

Cyan Group   This is also a very interesting grouping which has united two families in England with one in the States.  In this instance there was strong circumstantial evidence but the results of the test was sufficient to confirm that links did indeed exist.  What is also interesting is that the MRCA is between 6-8 generations   If you look at the table on the previous page you will see that based on a 50% probability a link will occur at 7 generations based on a 25/25 match, which has occurred within this group. 

At present the family links in this grouping are based on those that existed before testing.  Work is proceeding to unify these and a composite tree will be inserted as soon as possible
