born 28 Aug 1818 in Ontario, Ontario Co, New York68, and died 02 Mar 1901 in Spencer, Medina Co, Ohio.
She married STEDMAN BURNHAM 06 Feb 1836 in Chautauqua Co, New York69,
son of ASAHEL BURNHAM and LUANIA LUVANIA EATON. He was born 11 Jul 1817 in Pomfret, Chautauqua Co,
New York70, and died 23 Feb 1879 in Spencer, Medina Co, Ohio.

More About BETSEY JANE DAY:
Burial: Mar 1901, Spencer Cemetery, Spencer, Medina, Ohio. Sec 1(A) Row 7; Headstone reads
Betsey Burnham 'Day wife of Stedman'

Notes for STEDMAN BURNHAM:
The town of Arkwright, NY was founded by one of Stedman's ancestors: From the 1860 NY Gazeteer:
ARKWRIGHT-was formed from Pomfret and Villenova, April 30,1829. A part of Pomfret was annexed in 1830.
It is an interior town, lying N. E. of the center of the Co. Its surface is an elevated upland, broken
and hilly in the S. W., and rolling in the N.E. The highest summit near the center, said to be the
highest land in the co. -- is 1,000 to 1,200 ft. above Lake Erie. The principal streams are Canadaway
and Walnut Creeks. Mud Lake, on the E. border, covers about 10 acres.
The soil is a clay and gravelly loam. Upon Canadaway Creek, in the S. w. part, is a fine cascade
with 22 ft. perpendicular fall. Arkwright Summit is a p.o. in the E. part of the town. Arkwright (p.o.)
is a hamlet in the N. part. The first settlement was made in the N. W. corner, by Byron T. Orton, Benj.
Perry, and Augustus Burnham, from the eastern part of the State, in 1807. The first religious meeting
was held at the house of Aaron Wilcox, in 1810, by Rev. John Spencer. The first church (Bap.) was
organized by Elder Thos. Grennel, in 1820.

Stedman married Betsey Day in 1836.

In the 1840 Census for Arkwright, Chautauqua, NY they already have a son:
Stedman Burnham 10001000000000000010000000
Males under 5 = 1 David
Males 20-30 = 1 Stedman
Females 20-30 = 1 Betsey.

On the 1850 Census they were entered with the surname of Burman by the ennumerator: Arkwright,
Chautauqua, NY, pg 115 Family 179/1584. So was the relative next door as A Burman.
(probably Stedman's father) Oddly, they named one daughter Sally and the next one Sarah:

was born Jan 1822 in Nissouri Twp, Ontario, Canada West117,118, and died Aft. 1900 in
Probably Sioux City, Woodbury, Iowa119,120. He married (1) MARY R BRYANT 1843 in Prob Green Co, WI,
daughter of JESSE BRYANT and BETSY [--?--]. She was born 30 May 1827 in Monroe Co., ILL121,122,
and died 19 Mar 1880 in York twp, Green Co, WI123. He married (2) MARY A DECKER 02 Feb 1881
in Brodhead, Green Co, WI124,125, daughter of HIRAM DECKER and MARTHA [--?--].
She was born 1832 in New York126, and died Bet. 1891 - 1900 in Linn Co Kansas or Sioux City, Iowa.

Notes for DAVID CASS DAY:

Dispute on death date and place: From Cemeteries of Miami County, KS, Vol 1,
Beagle Cemetery, Beagle KS. David Day 1898.
Burial: in Beagle Cemetery, Miami, Kansas.
Question did he marry a third time? Or a daughter-in-law?
Because a Susan A Day is buried by David in Beagle Cemetery.
She b. 1850 d. 1919 no relationship stated in pg 8 of book "100 Cemeteries & Burial Sites of Linn Co, KS"
(JMNelson 3/20/2002)

Found family of Travis Day who owned the ground of the Day Cemetery in Beagle Miami KS.....
they had a son David born 1822 and died 1898, so unless it says David Cass Day, this is a
different David. The dates and places belong to David Day, son of Travis and Anna Nancy (Lewis) Day.
That David had similar dates...b. 11/30/1822 and d. 10/8/1898 and buried in the cemetery at Miami KS ...
Day burying ground on his parents farm. Somehow, someone looked up the name in a cemetery
book and applied it to Rosella's dad as he was born in 1822. The error is posted on the Internet.

As David Cass Day was pretty much a pillar of Green Co Wisc, will check for his death there.
(JMNelson 3/7/2003]

4/28/2003 Received reply to my query on David C Day to Green Co, Wisc. The volunteer checked the
York Burying Ground, now called Green's Prairie Cemetery in Section 23 of York Twnship, and
says David's son, Merrit C Day who died March 5, 1880 is there as is David's son, Dr Albert Day,
but there is no stone found for David C Day. (JNelson)
6/8/2004 Garnett, Anderson Co,
Kansas (next to Linn Co] Found a record of land purchase in Register of Deeds office:
Day, David from Mohler, L.A. Filed November 18, 1889 Date of Instrument: Dec 25, 1888.
WD bk 46, Pg 94 (Copy in scrapbook) for Lots 1, 2 & 16 Block 41 Garnett.
The deed is signed by David Day and Mary S Day. The property was sold June 6, 1891. As there
was another David Day in the area, this leaves us up in the air, as Mary had a middle initial of
A in the Wisconsin records. However, it could have been mis-copied into the deed register....
not the original signature. It appears the other David Day was married to a Susan, so it is
likely that David Cass Day was the purchaser.

on 6/9/2004 I learned at the Linn County Historical Society that the family said that David
"went West". [JM Nelson 6/9/2004]

David Cass Day was alive and living in the home of his son, Dr. Albert L Day, in Sioux City,
Woodbury County, Iowa on the 1900 Federal Census. He may have died there, as no later record
found. The census record had a transcription error in Dr. Day's name, age and birth year.....
correction sent in to Ancestry.com. David was widowed, so his second wife Mary A died between
the above deed date in 1891 and 1900. No record found for David C Day after 1900 census, although
his son Albert Day was listed in Hopewell Twp, Muskingim Co, Ohio on the 1910, listed as a
boarder in the George Porter Household, and as a minister. Albert gave correct parental
birth places and said he was married 42 years.

Her son, given as Ervine on the 1870 was listed as Irvine on the 1880 census.
Martha, Angela, Emma and Hattie were all shown as dressmakers, as well. Ella must have married

Harvey Crosby the youngest at age 13.
