George's age varied considerably on the various censuses. However, at the time of
his death, the Sexton Record gives his age as 77 in April, 1895. This concurs with
the census of 1870 which gave his age as 52. Hence it appears he was born in 1818,
before Jonathan and Polly immigrated to Nissouri from Ontario Co, NY. Sexton Record reads:
Geo Day Sr (age) 77, (Nativity) Canada (Cause of Death) Debility;
(DoD) 4/15/1895 (Date of Burial) 4/17.

             m. (2) JANE MEADOW, Aft. 1880, Michigan;
             b. May 1866, Michigan.

Notes for JACOB DAY:
1880 Federal Census, Sanilac, Sanilac Co MI page 218 B, residing next door to Wm & Elizabeth Day
with George and Amey Day on the other side of them:

In the 1900 Federal Census, Jacob has remarried to Jane. The census taken June 20, 1900
in Sanilac, Sanilac MI has some discrepancies:
Jane says she was married 23 years....yet Jacob was married to Emma in the 1880 census,
only 20 years prior. Also, if married 23 years that would have made Jane age 11 at marriage,
so probably an error on years married, as opposed to her birth year.

In the home is George Canfield/Camfield...the only survivor of his family from small pox.

Camfield, George, nephew, W M March 1886 age 14, S,

Notes for JANE MEADOW:
It would appear that Jane errored about the years of marriage on the 1900 Federal Census.
She gives birth month as May and year as 1866, but enters that she had been married to
Jacob for 23 years. This computes to a marriage year of 1877. If she was born in 1866 she
married at age 11. Also, in the 1880 census, Jacob was still married to Emma. So maybe
Jane tried to add his total years of marriage to two different wives..... marriage verif.
needed to clarify.

42. ELEAZOR7 DAY (JONATHAN6, JOSEPH5, JOSEPH4, JEREMIAH3, RALPH2, RALPH1)
was born 03 Apr 1822 in East Nissouri Twp, Ontario, Canada262, and died 12 Feb 1909 in
Sanilac Co, Michigan. He married LEVINA CARTER 29 Jan 1845 in Nissouri, North Dorchester,
Ontario, Canada263,264. She was born 11 Jan 1826 in New York, NY Co, New York265,
and died 19 Oct 1905 in Sanilac Co, MI.

Notes for ELEAZOR DAY:
The family moved from Ontario Canada to Sanilac twp Sanilac Co Michigan sometime between
the birth of Miranda Louise Sept 1850 in Ontario and George Edmund born Sept 30, 1852
in Michigan. However Miranda died a year later (1853) in Ontario and is buried in
Day Cemetery there.

Apparently Eleazor traveled back and forth between Michigan and Ontario Canada, for he is
listed on the 1851 Census for Canada West, Oxford County, East Nissouri Twp., in the home
of his brother Daniel and sister-in-law Barbary Day on page 39 as a Michigan resident:

Notes for EMILY CASS:
The wife of George Edmund Day is given as Emily Cass in the Day Family History. However, in
the ged-com from Nancy Magnusson received May 15, 2003 his wife was listed as Emmeline Carter.
Nancy sent the following information as her source of the maiden name:
"My source for the Emmaline Carter information is from a letter written by Cora Day, Harry's
daughter. She never put years on her letters, just month and day. This is an excerpt
from the August 28 ?? letter she wrote to my sister in law Jessie:

Aug. 30
Grandma was Emily Carter. She married George Day, when I don't know.
Grandma was born July 28, 1859 and died February 5, 1947. How I know these dates grandma
came here xmas of 1946 all by herself by train.

She was so all in when she got to the States. She was living with Uncle Elwin at the
time in Red Deer. She was here only a short time became ill. She was at mother's when
she died. Mother took care of her till she died.

She got in touch with Uncle Elwin, he was the only one who came. That was the first
time I seen Uncle Elwin.

There family was 3 boys 1 girl. Harry Day
                                                 Elwin Day
                                                 Robb Day
                                                 Lavina Day.
She died very young as she went blind. All I know is what I heard my stepdad talk about.
By the way it sounds like she might of had sugar.

They were all born on the lake shore Rd. in Forester Michigan. When I'm up there I'll go see
if I can find where there buried."

Notes for BLANCHE KIDD:
Blanche Kidd is found in the 1900 Federal Census in the home of her maternal grandfather,
John Thompson. She and her mother, Susan Roy, were both employed as domestic servants,
although the census shows that Blanche had attended school that year for 6 months.

Apparently, the person giving the information did not know the birth months or years for
any of Susan's four children, two by spouse Kidd and two by spouse Roy, so the data was not entered.

At the tender age of 13 or at most, 14, Blanche was married to Joseph Henry Day on Dec. 31, 1900.
Per the Day family history, she had 15 children before Joseph died in 1919, including three
sets of twins. Each set of twins must have lost one at birth or shortly thereafter, as no
twin birthdates are shown in the 1920 census for Blanche and her family. By the 1910 census,
she had had 8 children and lost 4 of them. She had a last child after the death of her spouse,
having been pregnant when he died, as in the 1920 census, George is listed age 7 months.
George died shortly after the census from pneumonia, per Alta Runyon. Alta also mentioned a son, John, but no record found of him.

Burial: Downington Cemetery

Marriage Notes for JOSEPH DAY and BLANCHE KIDD:
Blanche was only 13 or 14
when they married. They had three sets of twins before his death in 1919. George Day
was born after his father's death from the flu. In the 1910 Fed'l census, Blanche was
listed as 23, the mother of eight and only 4 children living.

Notes for ELISHA ARCHIBALD DAY:
Per "The Day Family History", the entry of Elisha coming to Saskatchewan in 1907 is incorrect.
He obtained Homestead entry April 5, 1909.....built his house September 10, 1909 and
claimed his
land grant May 11, 1912......the story goes that in 1909 he walked all the way to
Saskatchewan from
Michigan carrying Thelma, because everytime he sat down she started to cry so he
had to get up and
walk some more to keep her quiet. (Above entry from Nancy Day-Magnusson,
of Kamloops BC, Canada 5/1/2003)
