My JOHN DAY left SC with his wife, Rebecca Taylor Day, and their lst
child (m) named Gilbert Russell Day who was born 1816.
(U.S. Census 1850 - Marengo Co, AL who moved to Anderson Co, TX with his
family in late 1850). John DAY purchased 3 pieces of land - adjoining each other ---
from the U. S. through the Georgia sale of new frontiers.
(Verfied through U.S. Land Management)
John and Rebecca's second child (m) was John Franklin Day b 1818 in GA
(1850 census in Clarke Co, AL)
A third child (f) named Mary Ann Day was born somewhere between GA and
Dallas Co, AL. John died somewhere in between or in Dallas Co.
In Dec. 1830 Rebecca married Edward Clark. He had bought property near
Rebecca. Rebecca and the three children were on the 1830 census in
Dallas Co, AL. Rebecca and John Days third child, Mary Ann, was born in
1820 --- GA or AL. An Etheridge couple (wife named Catherine) were
living with Rebeccaz or living next door to her before she married
Edward Clark. The Etheridges and Rebecca and her new husband all signed
the paper to sell Rebecca's property. Edward bought another piece of
property in Dallas Co for his new family. Why the Etheridges signed the
sale - I do not know. Was Catherine the sister of Rebecca?
John Franklin and Gilbert Russell and probably Rebecca and Edward moved
to Clarke and Marengo Co, AL. John Franklin and Gilbert Russell married
sisters from the Anderson family in Wilcox Co, AL John Franklin is
buried in church cemetery with family members --- Gilbert Russell moved
to TX. Mary Ann married a cousin or nephew of Edward Clark whose name
was John Clark. Their lst child (m) died very young and his death is
listed in a family Bible. Mary Ann and John apparently died then
also. Passed down info is that Rebecca was related to President Zachary Taylor --- I doubt that.
Rebecca is listed in the "Mortality Book" dated 1860 of AL. She had died in 1859 near
Bashi, Clarke Co, AL. No location of any grave. I have made a plat map of
the Dallas Co, AL land property.
Help will be appreciated.
