Jesse P. was listed in the Morgan County 1860 Cenus as head of
household with Mary, her children David, Margaret and Sarah,
and their daughter Malinda Jane. He was gone from the 1870
Census. Presumably he had died at an early age. A cousin,
Hazel Howerton Gooderham remembered Granny (Malinda) telling
her that the Confederate Army came and got her dad to fight
and he died of consumption (TB?).
