Newspaper item from 1907: On last Thursday night, the house belonging to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Day, one mile north of town, with all it's contents was destroyed by fire, with no insurance. There was no one at home at the house when it caught. Mr. and Mrs. Day having gone to a neighbors house and no one knew how it happened. All that was saved was what they had on. This is very hard on these good old people, we say old, one is 75 and the other 76, too old to start again. We are glad to know that the good people are giving them help. Mrs. Day is the mother of surveyor John L. Kirby, Mr. Day being her second husband. Notes for MRS.
