MD, Lib. Q, Fol. 70, Feb. 22, 1658... "Nicholas Day, a grown man sells
himself into 'slave Bondage' for 'ship transportation' to the New World
where he could get free land and own home. He with John Wilkinson,
Benjamin Glover, John Walker, Robert Chaney, Elizabeth Gaibe, Catherine
Roads, and William Stanley were bound to Richard Owens who granted them
their freedom and notified his 'Lordship Grace', the Crown of England that
they were entitled to 50 acres of land."
June 6, 1693, purchased 200 acres called "William the Conqueror" at
Gunpowder Falls for 1200 Pounds of tobacco. November 5, 1693, bought 150
acres called "Lesser Chance" from Thomas Bruins of Baltimore Co. for 3000
pounds of tobacco. Nicholas Day was taxed for lands north of the Gunpowder
River from 1699-1706 (Clark: BALTIMORE CO.,MD, TAX LISTS, 1699-1706, pp 3,
8,16,23, 41,51, 59.)

Baltimore County. In the name of God Amen. this first Day of December one
thousand Seven hundred and four I Nicholas Day of Baltimore County being
Sick and weak in body but perfect Strength and Memory thanks to all mighty
God for and Calling to minde the uncertaine Estate of the Transitory life
Doe Constitute and ordaine and Declare this my last will and testament in
manner and forme following-- Revoaking and by those presents testamt or
wills heretofore by me made and Declared Either by word or wrighting and
this to be Taken only for my last will and testament and none other
viz I give my Soul to all mighty God my Saviour and Redeemer in hume and
by the merrits of Jesus Christ I trust and believe assurdly to be Saved and

them Due alsoe I give unto Walter Pardue four young Sow Shoats

Nicholas Day and Sarah --?-- were married. Sarah died before 28 Dec 1736
in , Baltimore Co., MD. SLADE family researcher Gertrude Stephens shows no
surname. Gene Blair's database of 1993 shows LOWE. Some other researchers
show COX, but since her son married a COX, that may be the source of the
name. Correct surname unproven.
Will of Sarah Day [wife of Nicholas Sr] dated October 20, 1730, proved
December 28, 1736, on file in the Hall of Records (BALTIMORE CO. WILLS, Box
5, folder 87). Bond was made by Nicholas Day [Jr], Josiah Henden, and
Thomas Amos (TESTAMENTARY PROCEEDINGS, Lib. 30, fol. 262). Transcription:

I Nicholas Day of the Town of Joppa and Province of Maryland being Sick &
weak of body, but of Sound & pareft disposeing Mind and Memory Do think It
necessary to make & ordain this my Last Will & Testament in Manner & Form
following.
Imp. I Give & bequeath unto my son Thomas Day that Moity or one Half of
one hundred & fifty Acres of Land My Part of a Tract or percell of Land
called William the Conqueror whereon the buildings and Improvements are
Made with the Appurtenances thereto belonging to my Said Son Thomas & his
heirs for Ever: but in case my Said Son Thomas should die without lawfull
issue or before he attains to the Age of twenty One years my Will and Mind
is that the Said Moity with the Buildings & Improvement thereon &
Appurtenances thereto belonging Shall go & redound to my son Laban Day &
his heirs for Ever.
Item I Give & bequeath unto my son Laban Day the other Moity or Half of
Said One hundred & fifty Acres Part of Said Tract of Land call William the
