Something to Chew On about Leafs
Toronto has the 2nd best shooting percentage in the NHL, translation: very
opportunistic, something we're not. Flyers are 15th in shooting percentage.
Toronto has the 4th least amount of hits in the NHL.
Toronto is the 14th best faceoff team in the NHL, Flyers are #1, though we don't have
Lindros.
Toronto has the worst specialty teams index of all the playoff teams. Take the PP and PK
rank and add them together.
Can't examine Cujo's stats, we'll just have to see which Cujo shows up.
St.Louis/Toronto Cujo (a flexible, acrobatic goalie who plays very solidly, but whose gaa
suffers under run and gun style) OR
Edmonton Cujo (or SuperCujo!, upsets first round opponents every year) I'm guessing the
Toronto/St. Louis Cujo will
show up, we'll be fine.
Heres another thing to know. The Hurricanes have almost 1,000 more hits than the Flyers
this year. (~2,500 to 1,590)
That might have been tough. Also, if we win and the Bruins win. We'll draw Ottawa in the
second round, barring no upsets, rather than Jersey. Lets Go Flyers!!!!!

Let's give 3 guys their 'props'
Duchesne - looks like a great defenseman so far. Offensively he has been great, but
boy, defensively, he has presently surprised me. He really enjoys playing for this team
and Roger does know how to use him. Don't take his solid play for granted, the D has
become noticibly better since he got here.
Berube - works his ass off. He knows his role and he does the job. It's so nice to have a
guy like this after watching that pussy Kordic not enforce shit for 3 years.
Jones - I love this guy. PERIOD.
These three guys have really been busting their asses lately and I respect that. We really
can't expect the Flyers to win a Cup without their best player, but the effort the last
couple games has been great and has made me proud of this team again.
All I ask for is hard work and effort. If they work hard, bust their asses, and don't win,
so be it.

98 Flyers = 97 Capitals + 96 Panthers?
Hopefully, this will be a season with similar results as the last two playoff runs. The
Caps had numerous injuries leading up to the playoffs, eventually got everyone healthy,
and made it to the finals behind their resurgent play and a hot goaltender. The Panthers,
led by an outstanding goaltender who had over a month long slump just prior to the
playoffs (one in which he played worse than he has for us in the past 6 weeks), also made
it to the finals.
Our offense will be recharged on Thursday with the return of the trio, and hopefully the
rest did them good. Role players such as Langkow, Zelle, and the Goons have to come up
with the empty netters. I'd sit Brindy for a game or two, to hell with his streak, and
pray for a hot beezer in the net.
Ultimately, if we have a chance, it's with him.

Time for Hexy to hang em up
I never thought the day would come when I would say this. Ron Hextall is my favorite
athlete ever. EVER. I was never a big Flyers fan until fall of 1986. My brother had always
loved them and I remember opening night against the Oilers. He got me to listen to the
game and a rookie named Ron Hextall started instead of Bob Froese. My brother was shocked.
We listened to the whole game (we didn't have PRISM) and Hexy beat the Oilers 2-1. Ever
since then I have loved Ron and worshipped at his altar. I almost cried the day they
brought him back. I still replay in my mind when he scored against the Bruins, when he
whacked Nielson in the legs, when he stoned Messier in '87 in game 6, when he beat the
living shit out of Chelios, when he swept the Rangers in '95. All of these and more. I'll
admit it, basically Ron Hextall is my hockey hero and nothing would make me happier as a
Flyers fan than to see him raise the Cup.
That being said, I think after last night's game it's clear that Hexy's string has run
out. His penchant for misplaying pucks has gotten worse; his reflexes are dull, he can't
clear the puck like he used to, and the goals he lets in just get softer and softer. The
finals in '97 were the beginning of the end and he has deteriorated ever since. I love the
guy and I'd give him the shirt off my back, but I wish he'd hang 'em up after this year
and preserve the great memories we have of him. Remember Steve Carlton at the end? Please,
Ron, no more. Thanks for all of the great memories and for making me a Flyers fan. Now
enjoy your retirement and know that there are fans out here who will always luv ya man. Go
Flyers.

A Positive Perspective
The Flyers have the third best loss record in the NHL(23), only Dallas(15) and the Devils (21)have fewer losses. The Flyers have lost 7 less than Detroit(30), and three less than Colorado(26). The 18 ties does hurt in the points race no doubt, their play the last 15 games or so has not been very encouraging. If their was a better tie breaking system their point standing would be much improved, even if they split on ties they would about even in overall points with Colorado or Detroit. As bad as they have played I doubt that any of the leagues GM's are secretly hoping to draw the Flyers. Time to play.
