Local Scout News... February - March
Girl Scouts of the Clearfield area are once again on their toes busy with an array of
activities.
In February the Girl Scouts have been busy collecting clothing for the Goodwill Industries
"Be Your Best Clothing Drive."
Cookies arrive the first week of March, the girls will be out delivering them soon.
The Leader's Banquet is scheduled for Saturday May 16th from 6:00 to 9:00pm at the
Days Inn of Clearfield. The event is going to be a little bit different this year but you should
be pleased with the changes. It will include a buffet style dinner, comedy entertainment and
door prizes. Adult reconitions will also be presented. It will be a fun filled evening for all
so please plan to attend. There will be charge payable in advance.
A 'Mom and Me' overnight will be held at the West Side Methodist Church in Clearfield
on February 27 and 28. This will provide an opportunity for quality time together between
scouts and their mothers. This activity has already experienced an overwhelming response,
being already completely filled as a first time event.
Girl Scout Sunday will be observed on March 8 at the West Side Methodist Church,
Clearfield. All scouts and their families are welcome to attend. Girl Scouts may attend the
church of their faith and participate by wearing their Girl Scout pins or uniforms.
* March 12th is the Birthday of Girl Scouting in the United States
On Sunday March 8th the H-Association is holding a "At the Hop" dance for all of H-
Association. at the Bigler Civic Center. There will be a DJ for the music and refreshments
will be provided.
H-1 Service Unit meeting will be held at 6:30pm at the West Side Methodist Church in
Clearfield.
Daisy Troop #1268 will be attending the "Daisy Dazzle," an event for younger girls, on
March 14th. They will spend a day of songs, games, crafts and meeting new friends.
On March 14th a representitive from Hemlock Council will hold a meeting to discuss a
special Resident Camp for the girls in this area. This meeting will be held at the Bigler
Civic Center at 3:00-4:00pm. Third grade Junior Scouts thru Seniors and leaders are
invited to attend.
The Girl Scout Mardi Gras will be held at the the Clearfield Mall on Saturday March 21
from 12-4 pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy the many activities the Girl Scouts
have planned. Girl Scouts from the Clearfield, Curwensville, and Philipsburg areas will be
involved.
The H-Revel for the Daisy/Brownie level has been scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 1998
at the Curwensville High School once again. All Girl Scout leaders interested in being a
part of the planning committee should attend the meeting at the West Side Methodist
Church on Monday March 9, 1998 at 6:30. If you can't make it to the meeting and want to
help, please call 765 9582, ask for Dina.
Resident Camp registration opens on March 4th, hurry if you are planning on going to any
resident camp this summer.
