*Spring 1998*
By: Elizabeth Haag, Johanna Welch, Jennifer Shurer
The Girl Scouts of the area are busy once again with a spring full of activities.
Girl Scouts from the Clearfield, Bigler, Houtzdale, Glen Richey, and West Branch areas participated in the "Girl Scout Mardi Gras" on March 21st at the Clearfield Mall. Various troop levels, ranging from Brownies to Seniors, enjoyed crafts, bake sales, selling Girl Scout cookies, and playing games. This proved to be a fun and educational afternoon, while the 18 participating troops gained valuable experience as entrepreneurs for a day.
Volunteers, especially Scout leaders, are a valuable resource to the Girl Scout movement. April 22nd is a day set aside for the recognition of these dedicated volunteers. Leaders in the H-1 area are reminded of the Leader's Banquet to be held on May 16th at the Central Hotel in Curwensville. Please contact Dina Barrett if you have any questions.
Other Girl Scout activities are planned for this spring.
Such as the Daisy-Brownie H-Revel to be held April 25th in Curwensville and the Girl Scout Delegate Assembly to be held in Montoursville. In May the Older Girl H-Revel will be held at the Clearfield Driving Park, the night will consist of a sleep-over, food, fun, games, and dancing. On May 29-30th is the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" to be held at the Clearfield Driving Park. Girls are welcome to get involved and help their communities.
