Why have you chosen her as your Hidden Heroine?
We chose her because of her accomplishments for the community and herself,
and the many interesting things she has done. Also for her service as a leader for Girl Scouting and Boy Scouting. And for her intrest in working with youth.
Describe some of her noteworthy accomplishments.
Some of her noteworthy accomplishments include her Dr. Degree in Biology while working and having a family. She belongs to Delta Kappa Gamma for teachers also was the president of the Penn State Alumni Association. Was the president of the Teachers Association and two time president of the American Association University of Woman. Outside of teaching her other accomplishments include current President of Woman’s Democrat club and B.P.W. (Business Professional Woman) president and district director. Other accomplishments include needle work, painting, traveling (to the North and South Poles) and built her own home.
How has she contributed to her community to make it a better place?
She has contributed to her community in many ways such as teaching first aid for the American Red Cross and helping with the local Heart and Cancer Societies. Also is on the United Way board of directors, and the Clearfield County Solid Waste Advisory Committee. She ran for mayor of her home town and has been the Student Council Advisor at the High School for the past twenty years. She has traveled throughout Europe and United States with school groups, scout groups, and others. And also traveled to Antarctica and Alaska in the past few years. This summer she worked at the Boy Scout camp for ten weeks as a naturalist. She was a leader of a Cub Scout troop for 3 years and a Girl Scout leader for ten years.
