On July 5, 2001, I donated my hair to the wonderful people at Locks of Love, an organization that makes wigs out of human hair for underpriviledged children who have lost their hair due to medical reasons. I am not alone. There are many men, women, boys, and girls who have donated their hair...and you can too. At the bottom of this page is a link to the Locks of Love website for information if you would want to donate your own hair.
What follows is pictures of the "before" and "after", and one just clowning around. Enjoy! :-)
This was before...see how long my hair was?
The back of my hair. It went ALMOST to my waist.
It's too late now! :-)
The difference between before and after is quite pronounced, isn't it?
Me holding my "tail". I was able to give Locks of Love a total of 12 inches tip-to-tip!
Can I glue it back on???????? ;-)
It took me a few days to get used to it, but the smile is now genuine...I love the new look! And I'm also happy that my "sacrifice" has made a child feel better about their own self-image. Bless you, Locks of Love! :-)
Because my hair grows so fast, I was able to donate again in August, 2002! The feeling is incredible! :-)
