Chapter 4

I seriously don't know what's wrong with that girl. She drives me crazy, I just wanna slap her sometimes. I don't know what Joey sees in her. But he drools whenever I say her name. I'm only nice when I'm around her because of Natalie. She's so pretty and funny. But of course I can't say that outloud because, well... I'm a guy. It's against the rules to be at all sentimental in any way.

Joey decided to go in hiding for a day. I think he was afraid of seeing Piper. Something weird happened between them. I think she may have smiled at him or let down her guard for a split second. Now she's all afraid that he might think she likes him. Like that's such a terrible thing.

I saw Natalie walking down the street today. She was wearing this bright green skirt that came an inch past her knee. It was weird, but I liked it. And a white shirt with some kind of bright green star in the middle. The girl matched. For once in her life. Then I noticed that Piper wasn't anywhere near her.

"Hey." I smiled and skated over to her.

"Yo. What's up?"

"Nothing." And she smiled a smile that drove me crazy. She wants me bad.

"Where's Piper?"

"I think she went over to Joey's. I was just going over there to see what's up."

"Oh." Oh yeah, I know she was checking out my body.

"So where are you going?"

"I dunno." I shrugged.

Natalie sighed and ran a hand through her hair. It was a little shorter, I think she got it cut. But who am I to notice anything.

"So you wanna go do something?"

"I'm going over to Joey's."

"Oh."

"But I can do that later." She smiled.

"Cool. Wanna rollerblade?"

"Uh. Sure. Let's go over to my house and get my skates. And change."

Natalie took my hand in hers and started walking back up to her yard. I blushed. I think I did. I was supposed to hold her hand. She's the girl. Aren't girls supposed to be the fragile ones who blush and giggle whenever you look at them or touch them? Man.. I got a headache at that point.

She ran into her house and came back wearing a really short pair of green plaid shorts and a tiny blue shirt that showed on her stomach. It was then that I noticed the tiny silver ring in her naval.

"Wow. When did you get that?"

"Beginning of the summer. Piper and I got matching ones. And this." She said, turning around and lifting her shirt up a tiny bit. Not that I noticed or anything. There was a small purple dragonfly tattooed on the left side of her lower back.

"Wow. That's really cool."

She turned around and let go of her shirt. "You ready? Or do you just wanna stare at my body all day?"

Heh... heh... I didn't answer that. Instead, I put my arm around her waist and pulled her over to me. She glided over on her skates and ran into my chest. Then I kissed her.

"What was that for?" She asked, not really moving away from me. I could still feel her pressed against me.

"I dunno." I shrugged and took her hand, and we skating away to the skatepark downtown.
