Haunting Tales and Folklore
Written by Peter Bayliss
About The Author
Peter Bayliss is a creative writer/freelance journalist who has had
short stories and articles published in both small-press and national magazines in the UK.
Born on 3rd March 1949, he originally trained in Typographic Design after leaving school,
but physical disability prevented him from following this as a career -- Peter has
Friedreich's Ataxia, a rare and progressive disorder of the nervous system, and all of his
current writing is done directly onto a computer using a voice recognition system.
Re-training in clerical and commercial work, he eventually found
full-time employment with the GEC in Coventry. Then after retiring on medical grounds in
1983, he studied with the Open University and also took a freelance writing course with
the London School of Journalism. All writing at this stage was typed with an electric
typewriter, then a word-processor, and later using the computer. He attained his BA (Hons)
Degree and a Diploma in European Humanities with the OU, finishing after 14 enjoyable and
successful years of study. He followed a variety of subjects, including literature, art
history and philosophy.
He currently writes stories and articles for many different
publications and also produces a regular column, 'Pete's Patch', for the quarterly
magazine of the UK's Friedreich's Ataxia Group. A long-standing member of the Coventry
Writers' Group, he edits their monthly Newsletter and is three-times winner of their
Trophy.
Peter is a member of the British Fantasy Society and the Ghost
Story Society. He lives with his parents in Street Ashton, a small rural district between
Coventry and Rugby, Warwickshire.
