Ode to the Moon
Golden moon,
from which soft light flows,
you drift slowly across deep night skies.
Sailing silently above me
like a solitary ship on the ocean.
Golden moon
the tide bows to you,
controlled by your phases.
The oceans waves are at your command.
What powers do you posses?
Golden moon
men have studied you from afar.
They have given their lives
to land on your surface,
and have worshiped you in awe.
Golden moon
lovers swoon in your glow,
promise to each other their love.
They kiss each other gently
as you pass above.
Golden moon
you lend moonbeams to light my path;
chase away the shadows
of the night;
bring me safely home.
And golden moon,
when tomorrow comes,
I will not fear the darkness of the night;
for I know you will be here
guiding me safely in your light.
