Your Shores

I have spent my life adrift on the ocean,
with never a glimpse of land in site.
Always searching for a place to land.
The wind never catching my sails,
never easing my travels.
The currents rough and rocky.
At times, I thought my ship would sink,
that all would be lost to the sea.
My darkest nights,
I spent praying for the light of day.
The hottest days,
spent wishing for the coolness of the night.
Then suddenly, when I finally felt
I could drift no more,
I heard my name called softly on the breeze.
A gentle wind catches my sails;
through the clearing mist, I site land.
The current brings me to your shores,
and there you meet me with open arms.
Finally, I have come home.
