What is PEDF?
PEDF is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt charitable
organization, incorporated in the State of Michigan. Our Tax ID # is 38-3371125.
Education is as critical to society as blood is to life. A few concerned
Pakistani American professionals have dreamed to help develop the people
of Pakistan by making the education accessible and by Islamizing and modernizing
it. They formed PEDF in September '97 to see their dream realize.
Our Mission:
"To promote literacy and advance basic
education in Pakistan"
Our Objectives:
- Develop a high quality curriculum and study-aid material
- Support schools in rural and under-served areas, for
their development
- Promote teacher training programs at different levels
Guiding Principles:
- Education is for building a strong character, responsible
person and rewarding skills.
- Islam provides the best guidance. Pakistan could rapidly
develop by training people in Islamic values.
- Sincerity, generosity, and perseverance are rewarded
by Allah (swt) in this life and the hereafter.
What type of Projects
we do:
- Develop advanced curriculum and publish text books in
association with local non-profit educational organizations. The books
will be sold and/or distributed free.
- Select high potential schools from rural and under-served
areas and provide financial support for their development. We may take
equity in the schools for their support.
- Organize teacher training symposiums in association with
local non-profit educational organizations.
Who Benefits:
- Programs for development of curriculum and study-aid
materials will benefit all
- Programs for new schools and improving facilities for
existing schools will be for rural and under-developed city areas from
all four provinces and Kashmir
We work with existing Pakistani
NGO's that have a track record of achievements in the field of education.
Currently we are working with a few such organizations to finalize our
plans for 97-98.
