A
Brief History
The Upper Crust was conceived in 1999 and founded in 2000 by Ffej, who, so far, has been involved with almost every community project. The genesis of the idea, though, actually dates back a few more years, beginning with the formation of Victoria's Secret Service. The members of VSS (especially Ffej, Matt Homiak and Joe Wagner) were each involved with a multitude of side projects with various other musicians. They eventually hit upon the idea to establish a "collective" of musicians who would record or perform live whenever they felt like it, with whoever was available. The idea proved to be a successful one, giving birth to a re-vamped Bunker Hill as well as Johnny Disco Shoes & The Teenage Blondie Ninja Dragons and Ffej & Joe. The other groups associated with the community had previously existed before the formation of The Upper Crust, so it was only natural that they were also to become integral elements of the community.
Thought the idea seemed to subside in the following months, it nevertheless planted itself inside Ffej's brain until it resurfaced in 1999. Ffej's initial plan was to create "a community of area recording artists dedicated to the preservation of original music through creative experimentation, exploration and improvisation whose ultimate goal is to expand the boundaries of recorded sound and promote positive aesthetic arousal," regardless of genre. Now the idea has become a reality, and The Upper Crust is a living, breathing entity...well, sort of. The community boasts a wide variety of artists, including bands and recording projects, whose music is as varied as the menu at your favorite 24-hour diner. Aside from more traditional styles such as rock, pop and jazz, The Upper Crust features an eclectic blend of experimental, acoustic, space, groove, electronic, novelty and more.
With
that said, the only place for The Upper Crust to move is "forward!"

Only one rule applies:
The
music must be ORIGINAL.
That
means you have to have written it. We also have to like it...but
our tastes are rather broad, given the variety of music currently on our
roster. If you'd like to become part of our unique collective, please
