Johnny Disco Shoes & The Teenage Blondie Ninja Dragons
JDS
& TBND was born with the purchase of Victoria's Secret Service's reel-to-reel
multi-track recorder. The studio entity features a multitude of musicians,
including members from the now defunct VSS as well as Bunker Hill.
At the helm is the eccentric John Bourinski, who graces the music with
his brilliantly hilarious vocal ramblings. JDS & TBND captures
the true essence of The Upper Crust, whereby the group records with whoever
is available to record that day.
Following
its inaugural sessions, many others ultimately followed, all featuring
a wild variety of improvised craziness, lyrical wackiness, experimentation
and jolly good fun! These sessions yielded material which surfaced
on the group's debut, The Rinsk Album.
Largely a studio entity, the group however made a live performance during a live broadcast of The Robert Paul Show on WQSU 88.9 FM in Selinsgrove, PA, where the band performed three improvisational pieces, including the lengthy "Vinyl Jam" featuring Robert Paul himself.
The group later recorded the full length BurlapSackHappyShit, again featuring improvised music with Bourinski in the captain's seat. Boasting a diverse musical pallet, the album includes traces of folk, bluegrass hoedown, southern-flavored rock, experimental and, oddly enough, holiday music.
The group is currently sifting through an assortment of home recordings to be considered for its next album, which has yet to receive a title. But if the existing two albums serve as any guide, then be warned that the compass will surely be spinning out of control...because anything goes!
