SNAKE EYES FMC-1
FMC-1 iron heads are both investment cast and then forged, creating the soft, solid feeling players enjoy from a forged head. But at the same time, the head's retain the accuracy of casting which allows for the remarkable forgiveness from what otherwise appears to be a performance iron intended only for better players.
MUSCLE CAVITY DESIGN
• New FMC-1 iron heads feature a "Muscle/Cavity" design that offers the look and setup of a traditional blade, but utilizes a channel cavity to retain surprising forgiveness compared to traditional designs.
• The muscle back design places mass behind the ball - much like a traditional blade - for a very solid feel at impact. The channel cavity allows for additional perimeter weighting that helps accommodate off-center shots. The thin topline sets up like a blade to provide the pleasing appearance at address many better players enjoy.
CAST AND FORGED - THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
• A unique investment forged process offers both the precision of investment casting with the feel advantages of forging to produce a very accurate, soft yet solid feeling set of irons. The process starts by investment casting the initial head shape from soft 8620 carbon steel. The head is then forged in a hydraulic forging press compacting the face material 150 kg/cm2 to align the grain structure and eliminate voids. Finally, the face is skim milled to ensure flatness, and the scorelines are CNC milled for accuracy.
• By investment casting the first stage of the irons, some of the costs associated with complete forgings are averted allowing the FMC-1 heads to offer the performance and feel of a forged club without the heavy price tag.
