Flavour of the Week

Week of December 24th

For those of you who haven't been included in the Flavour of the Week Mailing, this is especially for you, dammit and you will like it. So spoke the Great Celestrial WeeSaul.

But shall be regard henceforth as the LAST MAILING OF THE SECOND MILLENIUM, K?

I have my books and my poetry to protect me...

I am shielded in my armour...

I am still working on gettin' as many of the 20th century Flavours archived as I possibly can. I have most of 1999 and 2000 (thanks to all who have sent them to me) and I just have to HTMLize 'em and upload 'em. If there are any of ya who have been with here thingie since '96 (I realize that there is only a handful of ya left that have been here fer that long and yep, I realize that that long ago is a lifetime in computer terms having been through 3 'puters in that period of time) and ya got any of them still from the early days of the mailing, I'd greatly appreciate it ya sent them my way and once again a big thank you to all who sent me stuff...

<begin post 20th century rant thus spake the 21st century schizoid man>

And the curtain falls on the closing of the third millenium A.D.. No, I shall not call it A.C.E. since I do not believe that today's standards should be applied to the past. The past should not be rewritten to suit the modern mind-set. If the fact that the western calender was based upon Christian standards upset some, create a calender that suits your needs. Yes, once again I prove that I am not politically correct...

If the A.D. must be dropped, why aren't the days of the week changed to something less religious? Though the gods represented in the days of the week have died and have been reborn as mythology, if we are to apply the standard that religious references are evil, why hasn't there been a mad rush to change the days of the week?

I am just plumb tired of political correctness...

I feel disenfranchised by the whole thingie (hehehehe)...

I have nothing against any religion since I feel that everyone needs to believe in somethingie, anythingie and I feel it is downright wrong that there are those who feel the need to change the past to suit their own agendas...

Guess I have to git all my end of the second millenium frustrations out...

Maybe things will git better in the third millenium...

Or it could be the end of the world though according to the Mayan calender the end of the world will be December (December actually means the 10th month BTW for those keeping score which does account for the reason why February is the month that we throw in the Leap Day and we *should* throw in the Leap Seconds at the end of it but we don't 'cause it would confuse too many folk who believe the calendar was set up with December at the end) 20th, 2012 when it just comes to an end. We shall have to wait and see and I am sure that sometime before then someone will come along and want to change that calender also...

And before the first light of dawn on January 1st, 2001, ye shall be visited by three ghosts; the Ghost of Milleniums Past, the Ghost of Milleniums Presents, and the Ghost of Milleniums Future...

And a rock feels no pain...

And an island never cries...
