Unseasonably cold weather has descended upon the region and will remain through Friday. Highs will be in the upper 30's right through Thanksgiving Day but temperatures will slowly rebound as we approach the weekend. An area or two may see a passing snow flurry this evening. Meanwhile, the snowbelts near the lakes are getting hammered this week with some areas easily exceeding 2 feet of snow. Nothing we need to worry about here though. A storm system in the southwest should begin to move across the Gulf states later in the week, but the first piece of energy should weaken as it heads off the southeast coast by Sunday. Energy trailing the initial system will likely spread wet weather into our region by later Sunday night into Monday. It's too far off to pinpoint specifics, but temperatures will likely be warm enough to keep any moisture just plain rain here. So, travel weather for the holiday will be good if you don't mind the cold or unless you are travelling near the Great Lakes. Temperatures will slowly rebound by the weekend and wet weather will be in our cards for early next week. Thereafter, there are signals that the month of December will start out quite cold for much of the nation East of the Rockies. Have a great holiday!
