No winter weather discussion for the Delaware Valley would seem fitting unless it began with the question-"Where's Winter?". I have received several e-mails over the past few weeks in regards to this, and some have even suggested changing the name of the page from Northeast U.S. Winter Weather to Northeast No Sign of Winter Weather. Well friends, the times they are a changing. A low pressure area is currently intensifying off of the Jersey coast. This is the system now responsible for bringing most of Southern New England their fist snows in quite some time. However, expect nothing for us except a passing flurry or snow shower through the remainder of the day and evening. Winter will finally begin to rear it's ugly head late tonight as low temperatures will dip into the upper teens with wind chill values well below zero!! So, bundle up the next few days as it looks to be quite seasonable. Yes, it may feel like an arctic blast of immense proportion to us, but that is because we have seen nothing but above normal temperatures over the past couple of weeks. Enough of my bantering and on with the weather . . . Tomorrow will be seasonable with highs around 30. Saturday should be the same, perhaps a few degrees warmer. On Sunday, a disturbance riding along the Canadian border may try to spread moisture in our direction, but don't count on it. Also, some model guidance hints that a coastal low may try to redevelop well off the coast. So, while it looks like no big deal, this system bears *some* monitoring. Behind that system, a more vigorous disturbance should be moving across the nation with eyes on the Mid-Atlantic states possibly. So, in short, a seasonable pattern is setting up with temperatures running at or below normal with a steady stream of disturbances moving across the country. I may be going out on a limb here (which is odd for me considering I hardly hype non-events like some) but I think that the Delaware Valley will finally see it's first measurable snow of the 1999-2000 season sometime between Sunday and Wednesday of next week. Of course it's still a ways off, so check back for any updates. Remember this general rule of thumb *If you don't see the page updated in a while, there is nothing worthwhile to mention as far as wintry weather. I only update when I feel conditions warrant* Take care and stop back soon.
