January 14, 1999 (2:15PM)
First, I apologize for the update being a bit later than expected. There have been some
adjustments to the forecast. Currently at my house, temp is 25 with winds out of the NE at
12mph. Sleet is falling lightly and is expected to continue and even increase slightly in
intensity between now and 3:00. Thereafter, it looks as though there will be a lull in the
precip. Needless to say, the frozen precip is continuing a bit longer than expected. Later
this evening, we should see a second wave of precipitation heading into the area. The
NWS says this will fall as freezing rain until midnight. I agree with that except for the
midnight part. I feel that shortly after round 2 moves in that all locales in Delaware
County will be plain rain. Driving will still be very tricky, so take heed of this warning.
After any change to plain rain, temps will remain above freezing through the remainder of
the event. Rain will taper to showers tomorrow afternoon, not before we receive up to a
half inch of liquid before it ends. We may even hear a clap of thunder, as temps rise
overnight and into the low to mid 40's by tomorrow. I will try to update this again this
evening to let you know exactly what is happening. Take it easy for the next couple of
hours until round 1 exits and drive safely. Check back later for more details.
