Things still on track for an active few days of weather across the region. Will keep the discussion relatively short as there are still some questions as to apparent weather evolving on Saturday.
The remainder of the night will feature areas of fog with rain redeveloping around 3AM. Temperatures rising into the upper 30s. Friday will feature rain, heavy at times, with highs in the lower 40s. On Friday night, we will have periods of rain with lows in the mid 30s.
By Saturday morning, things begin to get interesting. An area of low pressure will develop/redevelop off the coast around VA and begin to intensify. Track if the low is still sketchy. Models are diverse in their solutions, some tracking the low NEward, and others keeping the low close to the coast and tracking it NNE. During the morning Saturday, periods of rain are still occuring in our area. Meanwhile, colder temperatures are filtering into the region from the NW. Rain should change to sleet early in the afternoon on Saturday and continue for a period before changing to all snow Saturday evening. Our area *may* be in store for quite a mess during the day Saturday if temps drop below freezing. Even if temperatures remain above freezing, things will likely turn messy with sleet, possibly heavy at times. Highs Saturday in the lower 30s.
Light snow will taper to flurries by midnight on Saturday. Accumulations, if any, still a question mark at this point. Lows Saturday night in the mid 20s.
Things will clear out on Sunday under partly sunny skies with the high around freezing.
So, rain, heavy at times for Fiday and Friday night. Rain changing to sleet early afternoon Saturday, possibly heavy at times. Sleet changing to all snow by evening. All in all, a wintry mess for Saturday. Another brief update available around noon Friday.
