January 20, 2000 (1:00PM)
Snow should begin in the next couple of hours as we near
daybreak. Some things have changed however over the
past few hours. First, the s/w energy has been moving
faster than progged by the models. Secondly, radar
echoes area getting very 'juicy' over the southeast at
this time. Thirdly, models develop the secondary slightly
farther south. This should push our snowfall totals to
somewhere closer to 3-5 inches for our region. Areas closer
to the coast should see more, perhaps up to 4-8 inches in
some locales. Snow should continue through the day Thursday
and finally taper to snow showers at night. Once again,
it will get windy Thursday night and teperatures will
nosedive, as will wind chill values. Expect highs Thursday
around freezing, highs on Friday in the mid to upper
teens. I will be updating in the morning, so check
back for any updates. Take care!
