More detailed discussion late tonight as this will be rather short and just feature the forecast for the area. Low pressure, similair to last week's Xmas Storm, will be redeveloping around Cape Charles over night. Meanwhile, strong high pressure to our North (different from last week actually) will be funnelling in cold air at the surface especially. This spells trouble in terms of precipitation type. Snow or a snow/rain mix will begin here sometime around midnight tonight. Snow will continue into Friday morning, but as ocean air infiltrates the area above the surface (850mb), snow will begin to mix with freezing rain and perhaps sleet in the mid morning hours on Friday. Temperatures will hover around 35 but may even drop as colder air is pulled in at the surface. Mixed precipitation will continue during the day on Friday and may end as a period of snow later Friday evening or night. Total snowfall accumulations less than an inch. However, as with the last system, just to the city's North and West, snowfall and ICE totals could be significant (6"+ snow, 1/4" + ice). Again, there will be a VERY important update to this discussion later this evening with more detail to thermal profiles being noted. Just be ready for some tricky travel on Friday and Friday night. Take care!
