A storm system approaching from the south and west will bring weather woes into the Delaware Valley starting before midnight tonight. The remainder of the day will feature increasing cloudiness as the system nears our area. Highs will be in the mid 30s. After dark, temps will drop into the upper 20s to low 30s across the region. Precipitation is expected to begin briefly as a period of snow or sleet, and the go quickly over to freezing rain. For Delaware County and the city of Philadelphia, temperartures should rise to above freezing quickly enough for a fast changeover to plain rain in these areas. However, there could be a minor accumulation of ice before this occurs. Counties farther north and west will see a prolonged period of ice, hence, those areas are under a Winter Storm Watch at the moment. Rain will get heavy for a period tomorrow morning before ending around midday. If you need to head out tonight, it's a good idea to hold off on your plans unless they are mandatory. Driving conditions will get hazardous for a period, especially while temperatures hover around the freezing mark. Temperatures will reach near 40 tomorrow and skies should clear out in the afternoon. Friday looks partly cloudy with the high around 45. Clouds will increase once again on Saturday as yet another storm system approaches our area in a similair fashion to the one currently developing. Temperatures should be warm enough to start any precipitation out as plain rain, but it is still a few days away and things could change. Rain may end as flurries early Sunday and highs will be near 40. The pattern will turn colder again as we head into Tuesday. Drive safely tonight if you need to head out, especially North and West of the city. SNUWW will likely be updated once again late tonight (2AM). Take care.
