"The weather outside is frightful" . . . how appropriate for what is ocurring outside during this update. Drizzle is currently falling right now over central Delaware County, but driving conditions are slick. Areas just north and west are seeing ice accumulate on untreated surfaces and conditions are much worse in those ares. The current temperature in central Delaware County is 32 degrees. Drizzle will continue for the next hour or so and then the rain will increase. Temperatures will also be rising to above freezing, so anything that falls will be plain rain (likely after 4AM). The reason for the nasty weather is a storm system over the Ohio Valley coupled with secondary development off the coast of NC. Both systems should be out of our area by midday on Thursday. Skies will become partly cloudy and the temperature should reach into the lower 40s. Friday will be partly to mostly sunny with highs in the low to mid 40s. Clouds will increase Friday night as another system approaches from the west. Saturday will start off cloudy and rain will arrive in the afternoon. There is a 1 in 10 chance that the rain may briefly start off as sleet or freezing rain, but this is unlikely as temperatures will be near 40. Rain will end Saturday night. Sunday will be cooler with scattered flurries and the high in the 30s. The forecast *may* become wintry again be early next week. Stay tuned on that. If you are going out in the next few hours, drive safely. Else, have a good couple of days as there should be no reason to update unless conditions warrant through Saturday.
