Alberta Clipper #3, the last in a series which began last Wednesday night, is currently sitting over the Great Lakes region. That area of low pressure will stay to our north. Meanwhile, another area of low pressure is currently developing along the Gulf States near LA/AL. This system will likely spread snow, possibily mixed with rain, into our area during the day and early nighttime hours on Monday as it slides off the East Coast around North Carolina.
The remainder of the night will be mostly cloudy with the low in the upper 20s to near 30. Monday will cloudy. Light snow or rain will develop around midday and linger periodically through the early nighttime hours. Any rain will turn to all snow shortly after evening. Little or no accumulation is expected. However, any wet roadways will ice over Monday night as temperatures drop into the 20s. High Monday around 35. Lows Monday night in the lower 20s.
Tuesday will be partly sunny with the high around freezing. Wednesday will be partly cloudy with the highs in the upper 30s. Thursday will be the start of a slight warming trend as it appears now. However, still not 100% sold on a warmup yet as a backdoor cold front may press into the region late Thursday, keeping temps seasonably cold for the weekend. Skies will be partly cloudy Thursday with the highs in the low 40s. Friday and Saturday will be fair with highs in the mid 40s both days, provided a cold front stays north and doesn't press through our area. Will stick with the warmer solution for now. More on that the next few days.
So, another shot of wintry weather on Monday before we see temperatures rebound later in the week (or maybe not depending on what high pressure in Canada decides to do). Light snow and/or rain will break out around midday and last into the early nighttime hours. Precip will end as all snow. Little or no accumulation is expected at this time. At most, a half inch seems reasonable for a total if it should remain all snow, but with ground temps having warmed over the past 2 days, it will be tough to get any snow to stick until after dark. Roads will become ice covered Monday night, so use caution driving. Once we get past Tuesday, the weather looks seasonable the remainder of the week and temperatures *may* actually be above normal by the weekend. However, the jury is still out on that warmup. More Monday night and/or Tuesday.
