Quick discussion tonight as time is limited.
There is the *potential* for a major winter storm to affect the region on Saturday, but the jury is still out on this one.
A storm system will be coming out of the SW on Friday. As energy dives South out of Canada, it will form one main storm system that will travel across the Gulf Coast States and eventually turn North affecting the Northeastern part of the country.
At this time, cold air does not apprear to be a problem, so if the storm takes the current forecasted track, expect snowfall totals in excess of 3". There is still a decent chance that the storm gets it's act together TOO soon and actually travels right along the shoreline or even just inland giving much of the area from Delco South and East a mainly cold rain event.
Suffice to say, we will be keeping a close eye on things. At this time, expect snow to begin around noon on Saturday and couuld get heavy in the afternoon and evening. Some mixing could occur and a change to rain is even possible at this time. Accumulations of over 3" are possible with the *potential* for totals near 10" in spots.
More fine tuning with the forecast as new data continues to pour in.
So, this could be like every other storm the last month and track to our West giving mainly rain here, but something says this storm is different. We actually have cold air in place this time, so that is something we havent seen in a while prior to a storm. Hedging towards a decent snowfall Saturday at this time. More later!
