It seems like winter took a short break, but here we go again talking about a wintry mess
for the morning rush on Friday. Some areas should start to see flurries by 3AM but a
more widespread area of precipitation will overspread the region by daybreak. Snow will
be moderate for a few hours in the morning before mixing with and turning to sleet by
around 10AM. Total snowfall accumulations before any changeover will be between 1 and
3 inches. Sleet may be heavy for a brief period before changing to plain rain by noon.
Temperatures will slowly rise into the upper 30's to around 40 by the afternoon. Rain will
be heavy at times and there is a flash flood watch in effect for our area. Expect the system
to begin pulling away Friday night as precipitation turns to showers. A shower or wet snow
flurry is also possible during the day on Saturday as the upper level energy associated
with this system moves on through and off the coast. So, once we make it through the
morning rush, icy conditions should give way to just very wet conditions. Take care and
drive safetly. These situations can change quickly, so stay tuned for any further updates.
