February 18, 2003

First let me begin by saying that I apologize to the regular visitors for not being able to update for the past few days, but I was stuck away from home. On the same hand though, my forecast did verify, almost exactly as planned! I was near the lower end of the 15-30" range (18" here) but it worked out as forecast with sleet keeping the totals in the lower portion of that range as expected.

So, with the biggest snowfall in 7 years under our belts, and it being late February, winter is over right? Not so fast. The same models calling for a rainy weekend are suddenly making massive changes to the forecast and one piece of guidance is actually showing snow and ice for our area on Friday. I will admit though, I have not taken a very detailed look at all of the data and likely will not until tomorrow as I am physically and mentally drained from the past storm and being at work for the past 60 hours. I will post an update Wednesday night whether needed or not, just to clue everyone in as to what is going on, for even if we get rain this weekend, the potential for flooding is tremendous and could pose quite a major problem. Until then, take care!
